Darija Jurak is a 24 y.o. Croatian tennis player, winner of 8 ITF singles titles and 27 ITF doubles titles, one of which she won this year. Her favorite surface is clay and current year win/loss singles record is 15-10. Her career high ranking is 188 for singles and 108 for doubles, while her current singles ranking is 413, which is the highest she's been in almost 18 months. She reached two QF's on 25k this year.

This week she's playing in Bad Saulgau 25k, where she qualified for MD (just like last year) and drew 2nd seed and world's number 208 Tereza Hladikova (CZE) as her first opponent. Since she's defending QF from last year, a loss here could push her down some 30 places in the rankings, but let's hope for the best. She applied for doubles also, not defending anything, she and her partner play against top seeds in the first round. She's playing in Germany next week as well, on another 25k where she lost in R1 last year after going through qualies, but is defending finals of doubles.

Good luck Darija:wavey:

Darija is playing in this week's $10k in Germany as the #3 seed. In R1 she beat an unranked player, Elisa Peth, 61 61.

In R2 she beat Sheila SOLSONA-CARCASONA 64 36 60. Considering that her opponent is #712, Darija shouldn't have lost a set, but as we say on TennisForum, a win is a win.

In the QFs Darija plays another low-ranked player, Li Xi. This is a good chance for Darija to reach the semis, since Xi is #1045 and is the only unseeded player left in the draw. Good luck, Darija!

In the SFs Darija beat Hubacek 62 10 ret. In the final, she plays the top seed, Sarah Gronert (#337).

Regardless of what happens this tournament should boost Darija's confidence. Prior to this she had lost 5 matches in a row. For someone whose career-high ranking is 188 Darija deserves better!

Well, still a nice result, hope this gives her some more confidence. But she really should advance to 25k's, both because ranking-wise she can't get much playing 10k's, but also because she really is too good for these events. Good luck this week:wavey:

Well, the 3rd seed lost to a 6th seed in straight sets:sad: Not reaching semis isn't really a disaster, but it's not far from it considering the level of competition. She better make up for it in doubles, where she has reached semis, paired with Kozic (they're top seeds).

After some less than impressive results lately (especially in singles) Darija seems to be getting back on track. She has reached QR3 or Biella 100k, after beating some unranked wild-carder first and then quite an in-form opponent, Ungur (well, in-form compared to Darija), both easily in straight sets. Next she'll play the winner of Sabino/Quercia, none of which I think is too dangerous, so she has a nice shot of making it to the MD. And there even one nice spot in the MD (against Moroni) where she might do some damage, but let's not get carried away.

^And when she beats her, she plays Martic:lol: OK, jokes aside, too bad Darija isn't in a better form, cause Dokic is playing lousy at the moment, Darija might even have a shot with a better game. But who knows, it's been a while since she made an upset anywhere, so...;)

Darija and Moore made the quarters of doubles in Biella, after beating Castano/Oprandi (and after they received a WC)! They'll probably face the top seeds next, but whatever happens, Darija will move some 10 places up the rankings.

very close, 1-6 6-4 6-2

Darija qualified for Sofia 100k without losing a set, including the match against the 3rd seed of qualies, Ozgen, whom she beat 6:1, 6:3! And she got a great draw in R1, an unranked wild-carder Tomova, so this is a chance Darija shouldn't blow. She's also the 2nd seed of doubles, paired with Zec-Peskiric, and they're already in the quarters!

Darija won 2 and 1:eek::worship: Don't know her draw yet, but she'll also play doubles here. And this win guarantees her a top300 spot next week, after she climbed over 30 spots this week. In case of a R1 win she could overtake both, Mrdeza and Vrljic!

Nice job Darija, keep it going:bounce:

EDIT: She plays Schruff - not bad at all. She's pretty much out of sorts (#120, career-high 52), lost 1st rounds twice in a row past weeks, including that loss to Sprem. Darija is not without a chance I think!

She won 3:6,7:6,6:4:bounce: Well done Darija:worship: Next she'll play 3rd seed Dulgheru against whom she probably doesen't have much of a chance, but this is already a nice result for Darija, considering recent form. It'll get her some 40 places up the rankings. Good luck in doubles too:wavey:
