3 Jan : Courtside report and pictures
I reached Burswood Dome at 8:45 a little bit ealier than before. Say “Hello” and gave a souvenir to Jacinta Beros who provided the ticket for me. Met Mandula and Attila at tournament office, taken them the picture. Say “Hello and how are you ?” to Drake. She said “Fine, thank you.” Both Mandula and Drake are looking better than I saw them in TV. The guardman inspected my hand-back before entering the Dome. Mandula was practicing with Attila at center court and Drake was hitting with Frank at the courtside.
The first match started at 10:00 am. Mandula got a slow start and found herself that she was down 0-3 then she started playing well and won six game in a row. After lost the first set, Drake started hitting the ball harder but the player’s ranking told the story. Mandula was showing that she is a better player, hitting the ball harder, serving better, placing the ball so well. Finally the Hangarian won 6-3,6-2.
I watched a couple games of the second match because I went to watch Alicia practicing with Barbora. IMO, Frank is hitting the ball better than Attila, serving better and having more winner shot. Canada won the second match.
Say “Hello” to Santoro and gave him the picture that I’ve taken in Thailand Open. Santoro practicing with a guy (I don’t know his name) who was Serena’s hitting partner in last year.
Returned back to the seat and watched mixed double match. The Canadian won the first set 6-4. Mandula and Attila played well in the second 6-1 and won the match in tie-break 10-3.
Interviewed by Fred Stolle (spelling not sure) after the final mixed double match. After that the players gave an autograph to the fans. Attila is a good looking guy and Mandula has a great smile. My today’s photo will be posting soon after I finish uploading in my website.
My favorite players are Chris Evert and Jimmy Connors.
Congrats to Tammy for her fourth title in Japan Women's Open 2010.
