A blonde cutie from Sweden, a nation better known for male players than females. Caterina had a ferocious topspin backhand that took her to #10 on the WTA computer on 15 April 1985. Though not a serve and volleyer, her game proved best suited to grass or indoor events.

Caterina reached the semifinals of Grand Slams on grass twice, the Australian Open in 1987 and Wimbledon in 1989. She lost to Martina Navratilova in both semifinals.

She had career wins over Steffi Graf, Virginia Wade, Pam Shriver, Hana Mandlíková, Wendy Turnbull, Manuela Maleeva, Nathalie Tauziat, Dianne Fromholtz, Helena Suková, Claudia Kohde-Kilsch, Zina Garrison, Kathy Jordan, Jo Durie, and Natasha Zvereva.

She currently resides in New Jersey, and is the mother of Joakim Ryan, a top amateur hockey player who was one of 48 16-year old players invited to try out for the US National Development Program. In 2009 Lindqvist and her husband Bill Ryan bought the East Brunswick Racquet Club [1] in East Brunswick, New Jersey, where currently Lindqvist is the head teaching pro
