Me building a hospital for children and adopting a whole nation's youth, wondering if I should bless this game with my splendid music taste.

Re: The Immaculate Collection: QV's Career Retrospective

166- Urban Hymns
Cream, Prince

I find a lot of RnB to be reductive samples and generic voices a-la Mariah/Beyonce. It's yucky*. That's why I went with Prince's more funk sound, which, I agree, people didn't really classify as an "urban hymn". However it is my favourite Prince song, and I was happy with a final for this, but maybe "Diamonds and Pearls" would've woorked better for this theme.

*Save for the occaisional rap artist, but they have the expiration date of like 2 years

167- Active Artists
Flawless, The Neighbourhood

A lot of artists I like aren't overly active e.g Madonna is taking a century to do anything musically, and several others are dead. So I had to fo some research, and even then, it was only because the neighbourhood had some random club gig. I thought this song might've done better, it seemed indie enough for the avant-garde yet pop enough for the newer players.

168- Song With a Story
Spinning Around, Kylie Minogue

Yaaaaas Kween Kylie! This was a song to go with a story, and instead of turning up with a sad song about depressing subjects, or sending Born This Way because it "made me feel confident in being gay". What made me proud to be homo is real icons like Kween Kylie, and her gold shorts. I'd always loved KKM, and Ultimate Kylie was my favourite christmas present ever! I used to choreograph dances to all the songs and I begged my mum for Kylie costumes.

169- Open
Seven Wonders, Fleetwood Mac

Damn Adam! Before the songs for the previous game were revealed I sent this, only for Adam to have sent and won with "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac in game 168. This hampered my chances of doing much here, although from a very meh reaction, i wouldn't probably be anything higher than 10th. Still my favourite Fleetwood Mac song, Stevie sounds divine on it.

170- Give Me Some Attitude
Too Funky, George Michael

Maybe I should stop sending songs I love, because people just can't appreciate how good they are. The winning song was good, but this was definitely better. Probably my favourite GM song, although Freedom and Fastlove have something to say about that. Anyway this funky and had serious attitude, everyone else's loss I guess?

Re: The Immaculate Collection: QV's Career Retrospective

171- Grammy Nominated
Music, Madonna

Hey Mr. DJ, I severly regret this decision. After missing out on sending Ray of Light, I thought I could fight fire with fire. Although 11th is a respectable result, this maybe wasn't the best time for one of my favourite M songs. But also I wanted to send M because she's probably the most snubbed artist in grammy history, let's take a moment to evaluate that history:

1984, 1985- Nothing
1986- Into The Groove not nominated for anything
1986- Crazy For You nominated for "Female Vocal Performance"
1987- Papa Don't Preach is not nominated for Record or "Song of the year"
1987- Papa Don't Preach nominated for "Female Vocal Performance"
1987- True Blue (album) is not nominated for ANY awards. 1986 & 1987's WW highest selling album.
1990- Like a Prayer song and album not nominated for ANY awards. The album that changed pop foreversnubbed because it wasn't pointless shit like "Wind Beneath My Wings"
1991- Vogue is NOT nominated for any awards, despite being the second highest selling single of 1990.
1991- Oh Father nominated for "Best Music Video" and loses to Paula Abdul
1993- Nothing for Erotica for obvious reasons
1996- Bedtime Stories is nominated for "Best Pop Album"
1997- Nothing for Evita, not even movie related
1999- Ray of Light album and song wins several categories
2001- Music album and song nominated in several categories
2002- Don't Tell Me win "Best Music Video"
2004- Predictably nothing for American Life
2006- A nomination for "Best Electronic Album" for Confessions on a Dancefloor, should've been nominated or won "Album of the Year"
2006- Hung Up isn't nominated for ANY awards
2009- 4 Minutes nominated for "Best Collaboration"
2010- Celebration nominated for "Best Dance Recording"
2013, 2016- As if she was ever going to be nominated for anything

Criminal really. Meanwhile we have Beyonshit with 20+. Disgusting.

Re: The Immaculate Collection: QV's Career Retrospective

172- 172 Seconds or Less
I've Written a Letter To Daddy, Bette Davis

I really wanted to do something to do with Bette Davis, as an actress I adore her, and the movie this comes from "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane" is one of her best performances. In saying that Bette is not a singer, nor is she trying to be, just thought i'd add a bit of a novelty one in there also while we're on the topic of Bette Davis, can we talk about her oscars or lack thereof?

1935- Win for Dangerous
1938- Win for Jezebel
1939- Win for Dark Victory* (fuck Gone With The Wind)
1940- Nominated for The Letter
1941- Nominated for The Little Foxes
1942- Nominated for Now Voyager
1943- Nominated for Mr. Skeffington
1950- Win for All About Eve*
1952- Nominated for The Star
1962- Win for Whatever Happened To Baby Jane*

Fuck everyone else, Bette deserved the most, in a sense like Madonna does. Anyway, Bette Davis:

175- Three Word Songs
I Feel Love, Donna Summer

True to form, many of my finds comes from Madonna. In this case, Madonna sampled this song in one of my faves from COADF "Future Lover", and I loved the beat and found the song. I'm disappointed that such a great song got such a low 10 in the final, especially after it came first in the semifinal. I was robbed.

Re: The Immaculate Collection: QV's Career Retrospective

176- Open
Malibu, Hole

Time no. 10383€7281920737 I was robbed of a title. I relate to the messy life that is Courtney Love, minus crack and obviously not that much drama in my personnal life. But just is weekend I passed out the back of my friend's garage at her party, a whole bottle of Vodka and a lit (and dangerous) cigarette still in my mouth. I finally realised what the life of Courtney is. Messy white girl. Anyway that didn't have much to do with this song, which is beautiful soft grunge at it's finest, and I was thoroughly robbed.

177- Europe Special
Crazy, Seal

I wouldn't say i'm familiar with anything of Seal's discography except "Kiss From a Rose" (blergh), so I was surprised at how cool this song is. I just love the production and Electronica defintely suits Seal's voice, it's such an ethereal song and I chose it because it has that 90s dance electronica that was huge in Europe at the time. All in all i'm pretty happy with a top ten.

177- The New Era/The Old Era
A Whole New World, Aladdin

I don't really believe there was a "New Era", like Lady Gaga's career it was a fad, and by the time I write this it is basically over and the "new guard" are barely making finals now. Anyway I would have made the final had I not gotten into an argument with Serena fans and got banned, life goes on I guess, and I really gave it to those idiots

184- 5+
I Can't Help Falling In Love With You, UB40

i am back, and just like Maria Sharapova's post-ban career, it's been a bumpy start hehe. I was disappointed this didn't reach the final, despite it not being a song thet TBSG woukd rave about, I thought maybe I could sneak into the lower ranks. It's not even a bad song, and I got the impression that UB40 being essentially a covers band, and it's very typical use of 90s beats and horns hurt its chances.

185- Middle East
Roa Leha Ba'einaim, Etti Ankri

This could possibly be one of my favourite submissions ever. It's such a beautiful song, and I think Hebrew works really well with this rock genre, even if I don't understand what she's saying. Although I love traditional Middle Eastern / Mahgrebian music, I was so glad I went against the grain of what others sent. Although I managed a top 10 finish, I was pretty disappointed this didn't get even higher, I thought I had a winner for sure.
