Emily Arbuthnott

She didn't appear to have a thread. She is doing great in the Roland Garros juniors, through her first two rounds. Awesome.

Celebrates getting her own thread by losing in the third round, to top seed Vondrousova.

Re: Emily Arbuthnott

Meanwhile, in Elstree: http://www.borehamwoodtimes.co.uk/ne...__on_same_day/

Quote:
On the morning of her first round match, she sat her maths AS level at a nearby British school and went on to sit her chemistry AS level after her second round match.

The Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls pupil, who is also studying economics, added: "I tried to think about both separately. When I had an exam I had to switch my focus over to that.

"It was very difficult. "When I was playing a match, knowing I had an exam later might have been a bit off putting, but I've learnt to cope with tennis and school for a while now.

"I'm happy with how the exams and tournament went."
Also, with the MoCoTro ((c) Judy Murray) coming up at Eastbourne this week

Emily has just been selected for Judy Murray's GB team at the Maureen Connolly Trophy next week.

Re: Emily Arbuthnott

She won the G1 doubles title this week in Canada with longtime doubles partner and friend Emilie Francati.

Emily has become almost a bit of a doubles specialist on the ITF junior tour having won 3 G1 titles, the European Junior Championship B1 title, a SF at the GA Aus Open as well as finishing runner up at a GA, 2 G1s and 3 G2s.

Her draw for singles at the USO MD:
(16)Katharina Hobgarski (GER) v (SE)Karman Kaur Thandi (IND)
Evgeniya Levashova (RUS) v (Q)Carson Branstine (USA)
Emily Arbuthnott (GBR) v Ingrid Neel (USA)
(2)Dalma Galfi (HUN) v (wc)Alexandra Sanford (USA)

Looks really tough, I'm not expecting her to win tbh.

Re: Emily Arbuthnott

Emily won the doubles with Lisa Whybourn last week, and this week does the double, beating Lisa 3-6 6-1 7-6(3) to take her first pro singles title at the Sharm 10K.

She has a main draw wild card for Loughborough 15K next week.

Re: Emily Arbuthnott

She won a match in Loughborough, but lost in the second round:

Ach well, any win on a wildcard is worthwhile. And she's into the semis in doubles.

Tara and Freya in the quarters of the singles.

And Emily won two doubles titles on the trot and her first sigles ITF titles in Sharm.

She's been having some success at lacrosse, too:

A sport that is irrevocably associated with Enid Blyton in my mind.
