I reckon anyone with a ranking will be in Qs by right, once all the MDWCs and Nottingham QWCs are removed.

So they can dole out QWCs for Manc like candy. I suppose Nell should get one, for winning a match last week, and Emma, since she is now ranked (too late for this entry list), so really outstrips any of the other candidates.
Nell was superb last week, pushed the #1 seed a lot in her other match as well and I remember her having some good results in the earlier GB 25k's this year. I didn't see her on the entry list on the ITF site so wasn't sure if she would be in contention, but if she is eligible, then she absolutely should have a QWC.

Nell is 16th on the Alts list - she was unranked at the entry date.

So she is, so she will surely feature. It was Loughborough that I was referring to earlier in the year, beating the 2nd seed and then 10th seed Stevenson in qualifying (granted being out of her depth in the main draw) but really caught my eye as I was quite unfamiliar with her until then. Think I read she's off to college in America in a few months.

Q draw should be out soon?

Re: Grass summer wildcard speculation

I guess, if it's not out yet, it must be in the morning.

I hadn't noticed Nell's name at all, but I think winning a round last week warrants another chance this week, given that there will likely be no ranked players needing a QWC for this pretty weak draw.

The following week's draws should be stronger, so there will be a higher bar for WCs.

I've been sat refreshing links waiting for the draw to come out thinking play started tomorrow but just realised it's Sunday, haha, so must just be 2 rounds of quals rather than the 3 at Surbiton.

Yeah, a lot less competition for Ilkley, no Notts or Dutch 250, so most at that level not quite good enough for Birmingham quals should be involved. There should be strong GB MDWC entries as well.

I hadn't noticed, but now I look at the draw for last year, that started on Sunday, and was a 32-draw for 4 places, and it looks the same this year, with qualie sign-in deadline on Saturday at 1800.

So I suppose the draw will be held then.

Surbiton was a combined event, with a lot of matches to get through, but Manc is women only, so I suppose they can squeeze it into a shorter time-frame..

Re: Grass summer wildcard speculation

They've gone full MD WC for Raducanu, along with Murray, Appleton and Dunne.

Will be an interesting test of whether she can handle a Wimby qualies WC straight out of the gate, or whether she'll have to play the playoffs.

Just saw this, yeah, very interesting yardstick for Emma.

Not sure why they have given Dunne a WC though, she should have been the 23rd entry by right, so that WC could have surely gone elsewhere. Would have been nice for EWS, SBG, Barnett etc. to have a chance.

Unless there are 6 qualifying places?

Re: Grass summer wildcard speculation

Possibly a technicality. I can't see anyone who would be eligible for the 2 SE slots which will end up going to Dunne and Liu, but I guess they aren't officially in until the qualifying sign in?

Re: Grass summer wildcard speculation

Mind, I think Dart, Swan and Dunne were all announced for WCs for Surbiton early but only Swan ended up needing hers, so maybe one of the above could get in yet?

Dart's close semifinal loss a double blow for Brit Wimbledon wildcard hopes.

Yeah, bad result, possibly more so for Katy D (in terms of Wimby WCs). I'd personally be absolutely stunned if Dart didn't get one now though. She is in the top 200 and as she has Manchester this week and early rounds of Ilkley or B'ham qualifying before the decisions are made, she can only really improve on that and if you're 21, inside the top 200, made a 100k and 60k SF in recent months as well as a 25k title and final, with notable wins over Wickmayer, Rodina, Taylor, Boulter, even Swan in recent months, then it would be shocking if she didn't get one.

Riske is 7-5 5-3 up over Hon in the other SF, so hopefully she sees that out, beats Perrin in the final, which she should, and as she is already in Wimbledon draw, that would 'save' that wildcard.

Edit - Riske wins 7-5 6-3.
