Re: Emma Raducanu

Emma entered W25 Woking. She's on the two Alts lists but I expect the field to thin out considerably by the withdrawal deadline.

Re: Emma Raducanu

Emma has been visiting China. First her family in Shenyang which is in Liaoning province, bordering North Korea. Then onto Beijing where she's been doing some sightseeing.

What's the betting she ends up playing her old nemesis Clara in R1?

Strycova ~ Robson ~ Watson ~ Konta ~ Siniakova

Barty ~ Parmentier ~ Swan ~ Bencic ~ Vekic ~ Raducanu ~ Halep ~ Galfi ~ Riske

Re: Emma Raducanu

Emma into the quarters in Roehampton with a topsy-turvy win over Leonie Kung. Bageled in the 2nd set and 0-2 in the decider Emma reeled off the last 6 games for the win.

Some highlights of the deciding set. Plays the German Heisen tomorrow in the quarter finals:

Re: Emma Raducanu

Emma retired at 7-5 4-1.

A disappointing end to British interest in the singles.

Anyone know why she retired? She hasn't withdrawn from next week yet, but assume she was carrying an injury (disappointing after she hasn't played for so long).

Well, the follow-up video covers the injury without saying exactly what it was. Not clear to me entirely. It probably was to ltt. Maybe it is to you. Stomach strain? Surprising if she does play the next one.

Re: Emma Raducanu

Well, she did play the next one of course, and was no doubt helped by some or all of the matches being played indoors.

Made today's semifinal, though she lost that routinely to Friedsam.

Re: Emma Raducanu

Despite the injury problem she did well in these 2 ITFs, making good progress. Not sure what the rest of her schedule is - is she going to study for A-levels?

I don't know. Do we know how she did in her GCSEs? If she's at all academic, she'll likely take A-levels, I'd have thought. With the recent change in the law (https://www.cypnow.co.uk/cyp/news/10...18-becomes-law) of England, she can't just go full time pro, unless she changes nationality?!

Re: Emma Raducanu

I'm sure they can make the case that her tennis counts as training. It certainly has the potential to lead to a far more lucrative career than most 16 year olds will ever have.

Ash Barty - Angelique Kerber - Johanna Konta - Naomi Osaka - Nadia Petrova - Laura Robson - Aryna Sabalenka- Taylor Townsend - Heather Watson

Re: Emma Raducanu

Aren't all professional sports teenagers "in training". It goes with the job.
