Go Ashley at the U.S. Open

Ashley drew a qualifier in the 1st round and then has Zvonareva in the second round.

Hopefully she'll be able to win at least a round here, but Zvonareva will probably be too tough at this point.

good luck Ash

She drew probably the most difficult qualifier, Vera Douchevina. Bad match-up for Ashley, as Vera hits the ball so hard.

Hope she can pull this one out, because Vera is very talented

Good luck Ashley!!

Ashley d. Douchevina 6-4, 6-2

First career main draw U.S. Open win, I thought she looked really good!

That was a surprisingly easy win for Ashley over Vera Douchevina. But beating Vera Zvonareva is a different story. Although if Ashley plays well she has a real chance to spring the upset.

Atleast Ashley has her first U.S. Open win under her belt. And that has to be a relief to her.

Ashley has also committed to the Doubles and Mixed Doubles tournament..

In the Doubles she will play together with Argentinian Gisela Dulko against Carly Gullickson and Sarah Taylor, both from the U.S.

In the Mixed Doubles she will play with Alex Bogomolov Junior against Eleni Daniilidou from Greece and Chris Haggard from South Africa..

I think this was a great tournament for Ashley considering her lack of preparation, she showed her usual fighting spirit but got too tired at the end.

Good luck in the doubles!
