Why is Laura ranked so much higher than Ansley?

Any thoughts? I read that they started at about the same time. Could it be their playing styles?

laura has got a lot more points for beating al those players ranked way higher than her that she did. she beat pierce but that was when mary was ranked low from her injury.

sh'es beaten suarez, farina elia, sanchez-vicario, bedanova, kremer, safina.

ansley's biggest wins are against msdina-garrigues and perebiynis.

Go the aussies! stosur!!!
and good luck russians: dementieva, safina, kirilenko, sharapova, kuznetsova, bovina, zvonareva, dushevina.

also good luck to: azarenka, lucic, sprem, vakulenko, vaidisova, safarova, ivanovic, groenefeld, mirza, krajicek, kvitkova, larcher de brito, lisicki.

I like both, but Laura is a more well-rounded player. I think this is why she is ranked higher, and she is also more consistent.

@ Nimi. Ansley was ranked higher than Laura before Wimbledon. After that Wimbledon run Laura seems to have gotten to a whole new level of play. Jeff, I think if you're talking about consistency in a match, Ansley is more consistent.

Aaron, I'm talking consistent as in winning matches. Ansley is consistent as far as hitting few errors, but as Jordan says...she has no weapons. Laura is an all-around player...strong serve, descent baseline game and comfortable volleyer.

I agree that Ansley has no weapons but she should/is developing her forehand and lefty serve. Her forehand was wicked at the Australian Open.

Ansley has lost 7 times in 7 tournaments played (including ITF tournaments). Her first loss of the year was to a resurging Tzipora Oblizer. She then lost to Lisa Raymond followed by Venus Williams at the Australian Open. Went down to former Top 100 (Top 50?) player Bianka Lamade and then to Laura Granville. A second round loser to Flavia Pennetta who had reached the Indian Open semifinals. Her latest was to Cohen Aloro 3 and 2 or 2 and 3. Either way. Most dissapointed with that loss to Cohen Aloro as I expected at the very least a tight set.

i've seen ansley play once and her forehand looked very much as if it coould be developed into a weapon. it would be such a shame if she wasted that.
