Michael J. Fox, Serena Williams, Sean Astin and others convene in New York to help the magazine celebrate a group of "ordinary people doing extraordinary things."
Tennis champ Serena Williams, 21, good-naturedly handled the introduction of celebrated New York City Ballet veteran Jacques d'Amboise, 67, confessing that she didn't know how to properly pronounce the name of his genius mentor, George Balanchine.
Williams, however, did just fine, and then introduced d'Amboise's proteges, a young group of inner-city school kids from his nonprofit National Dance Institute. Since 1977, noted Williams, some one million students have opted to dance with d'Amboise after school instead of getting into trouble.
