Re: 2010 USTA National Championships

I hope Sloane wins it! She'll get a WC anyways though, but I don't want anyone else on the list to get one, they don't deserve a MDWC in my opinion. Girls like Capra, Rogers, Gibbs, Goldfeld, and Keys will be fine in qualies

If Sloane doesn't win it, then Amalgamate better

Re: 2010 USTA National Championships

My thoughts on the seeds

#1-4 -- directly based off of WTA ranking

#7 -- Whitney Kay is not the 7th best player in this tournament. Her seeding is inflated due to her USTA ranking. But this is... Like look at all the girls she's seeded higher than.

#16 -- I think Ellen Tsay is seeded too low.

Not seeding Augustine (WTA rank 522) is really surprising. I would also expect Melichar to at least be an alpha seed.

Re: 2010 USTA National Championships

^ Agreed. I'm shocked Kay is top 8. I think Keys should have been 8 with Ester at 7. I also think Tsay is too low. Only reason I can see Augustine as not being seeded is because she hasn't played a USTA or ITF junior event in a long time. I forgot she was still young enough to compete in this.

I think it's the first time she (augustine) has ever competed...

Edit: The other thing is that the USTA isn't required to look past #500 in the WTA rankings. And since that's basically all Augustine has, it somewhat makes sense she's not seeded. I just thought they would use more discretion.

Re: 2010 USTA National Championships

That's shocking. You'd think she'd go for the WC, especially since she turned pro at a young age. I also noticed Hsu isn't on the list. You'd think she'd give it a go too, even though she's going to college.

Sadly, I think Brittany is a prime example for reasons why girls should wait to turn pro. Good at the young age, but didn't grow much. Makes me worried for Sachia Though, Brittany has been improving her results this year

The case of Brittany Augustine is so sad And Hsu I don't think has played these since she was a wee one.

Re: 2010 USTA National Championships

Yeah I heard Hsu won tons of gold balls when she was little.

Why did Augustine turn pro so young? I don't think she was dominating enough to wearrant that, was she?
