Yeah a decent draw! Especially with Amelie's form. I hope this gets onto the big courts. I wanna see Ash take her down!

Re: Wimbledon -- Grand Slam.

Nick Bollettieri pick :

Amelie Mauresmo (FRA) vs. Ashley Harkleroad (USA)

Mauresmo won this tournament back in 2006, and after winning it she looked to be the most dominant woman on the WTA Tour. Since that time though things have changed and she has dropped all the way to No. 30 in the world. A good showing here would go a very long way for her.

Harkleroad has found herself in the news recently, but not for anything she has done on the court! She comes in ranked No. 76 in the world and in five previous appearances here she has only gotten past the first round one time.

Match-Up:

This will be the first time these two have faced in their careers. I feel for Mauresmo. She must have so many questions running through her mind. Anytime you go through a period like she has, there is always self-doubt about your career. She is so talented, but yet it isn’t translating into wins. Harkleroad is a tenacious competitor and doesn’t like to lose. She hits hard and very flat, and can hang with anyone from the baseline power for power. Her serve is decent, but inconsistent and she doesn’t posses a ton of variety. I think the difference in this match will be Mauresmo’s beautiful backhand, her experience, and her knowledge of the game.

Nick’s Pick – Mauresmo in 3 sets

I like that description of her game, Nick knows what he is talking about. Lets all cheer on Ashley tomorrow! Good luck Pebbles

Re: Wimbledon -- Grand Slam.

I've never heard anyone else say Ashley is a hardhitter.

I know she is trying to change her game, but she still doesn't possess a lot of power. If anything i would say Ashley's game is so strong right now because of her net play and service placement. She sets herself up nicely for some short balls.

No bias included, I think Ash will take this one in three. As long as she doesn't choke away a third set lead! Good luck Ashley!

She has been working on adding power, watch the videos of her vs Rena on Youtube At times, she overpowered Ree and i really hope she can beat Amelie tomorrow!

Re: Wimbledon -- Grand Slam.

Miss Harkleroad doesn't hit the ball that hard, although I think she's been able to disguise the ball alot better in the past few years. Take her match against Serena. There was a number of occasions where it looked like she was going to hit a dropshot so Serena started going towards to the net, only for Ashley to change her shot at the last second (into a very deep, flat shot instead). It hasn't payed dividends for her yet, but its a skill that once perfected could see her get into the top 50.

Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.

Yeah Ash isn't doing very well against Momo at all. Down 1-4 and she's just sucking right now. She's not taking advantage of Amelie's serve and she's hitting a lot of easy balls way out.

Ash is doing a little better now. Momo up 6-4, 4-3 and Amelie isnt even really playing that good right now so it's a good time for Ashley to be aggressive and possibly take the set.

Re: Wimbledon -- Grand Slam.

Ash lost 6-4 6-3 Amelie didn't appear to be hampered by her injury. Ashley started slowly but came into the match and missed a few opportunities in both sets. Overall, she played some good tennis in the match, hitting some good angles and with decent power. Amelie just had too much variety on the grass for Ashley to get any momentum going. Good luck for the hardcourts Ashley!

Re: Wimbledon -- Grand Slam.

Was it good for Ashley Harkleroad to posed naked on Playboy???

Harkleroad will appear this morning on Court 18 against Amelie Mauresmo, the 2006 winner of the women’s singles. A spokesman for the All England Club said: “As long as she is wearing clothes, and they are white, we will be happy.”

This was a new-look Federer. Plus it was a new-look Centre Court. Last year, the stadium was as topless as an Ashley Harkleroad centrefold shot, as part of the building work to create a sliding roof for next summer's tournament. This year, there is a roof again. Federer, who also had a golden emblem on the back of his shoes signifying his five previous Wimbledon trophies, always gets a kick out of the defending champion's right to open the court.
