Lightbulb True Women's Rankings

Has anyone ever noticed how the WTA ranking system encourages higher ratings for players entered in more tournaments? Granted this process likely garners more participation and awards players higher ratings for doing so (which probably helps WTA in areas like attendence and getting tournament attractions {NAMES} to show up); but is this an accurate evaluation of player rankings? I would suggest that if fans want to guage a players true performance level against the competiton then you simply need to divide that individuals total 'WTA ranking points' by the 'recent number of events' they participated in during the current season to get an 'average points per event' for that player. The higher your per event average is for each player will give you their rank against the competition. Using this system, you will undoubtably get a truer more accurate ranking method and you might just be a bit surprized at the shuffle in standings too. It definitely guages a player's actual performance level much more closely.
