Question If a Williams, is not in the Tourney????

What do you do? Do you still follow it, does it seem boring?? For me its just not the same, I tend to withdraw and not really follow, but when they are playing, I am all over the place getting stats and times and everything I need to be the informed and knowlegeble fan. Somehow a tourney is so much more exciting if they are playing

If Venus or Serena is not playing..I might watch part of a match while flipping through the channels, but I would not follow through the tournament like I would if they were playing. Just dont seem right if those girls are not there.....they make the tournaments exciting.

Venus and Serena ....Often imitated NEVER duplicated!!!!!!!

I love tennis period. There's always someone else to root for or I just get curious on how someone will do in that tourney.

Take the French for instance, Venus was in so I followed number one for her. Once she left, I put my energies into Kim, Svetlana and then others I found root worthy. Now that my ultimate faves are out I will watch the final only because I lost a lot of sleep over the tournament so it would be pointless for me not to finish it out. It always helps though to have favorites in the field who you like, and those who you can root for based on respect for the player and their game. Sometimes it's not like that but at least in the French final this year there is one player I do respect enough to see the outcome.

Venus might as well get her mail forwarded to Serena's shadow. She's going to be there forever!

I have other favorites I follow and since tennis is rarely shown in the states as it is, I don't miss it if I'm able to watch it live.

It's not as fun but it's also less nerve-wracking. In the AO SF w/ Maria and Serena I was practically shaking!!!

yeah, only nerve-wracking when they take a match they should have won easily and make it a marathon, which seems to happen at least once a tournament.

Same here, although I will follow the tourney, because ultimately I pick someone I want to win because I just love tennis and I learn so much for my own game when I watch.
