Re: Aussies in WTA events

McPhee and Fourlis got in as last minute ALTs in Guangzhou, thanks to some players still in competition this week.

McPhee plays (WC)Xun, while Fourlis plays (12)Kerkhove

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Ive always wondered about alternates, so you have to be on site right? so Mcphee/Fourlis would of already been in Guangzhou knowing they didnt make the draw but just there in case? seems like a big maybe costly gamble, flights hotet etc and you may not even make it?

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Not such a good day.

3 winners: Pri, Arina, Des (from 61 51 down!!! what did someone say in the rain break?)

Rest losers: Ajla, Jaimee, Astra, Kaylah, Lizette

Ajla was 1 win away from CHR.
Astra retired at 61 14??

Pri meets Des in FQR so at least 1 qualifier.

Re: Aussies in WTA events

What happened to Sharma that she had to retire after winning the first with a breadstick?

Don't know but could be precautionary?
She has quite a few points from Oz to defend this month.

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Pri beats Des 7-6(3) 6-2 to qualify for Seoul. They are all pretty tough matches For the qualifiers in the draw as well.

Rodionova currently 4-0 down in a third set tiebreak against Xun.

Pri drew Buzarnescu, which was about the best on offer.

Re: Aussies in WTA events

Alison Bai makes Guangzhou QF with partner Lechemia. They had a very good win over Garcia Perez/Krawczyk. Alison pulled out of Cairns to play here. Looks like she’s realising she could make a go of it as a doubles player. She should stick with it!
