Roland Garros 2019

Surely this deserves a new thread??

Daniel said:
Roland Garros 2019

Main Draw:
- Ashleigh Barty
- Ajla Tomljanovic
- Daria Gavrilova
- Samantha Stosur
- Astra Sharma
- WC

Qualifying
- Priscilla Hon
- Kimberly Birrell
- Arina Rodionova

Not expecting anything from our qualifying line up.
Main draw all eyes are on Ash, she can potentially make a QF or SF so long as she avoids the best of the best.
Ajla and Sam have it in them to do well and hopefully make a third round - depending on draw.
Would love to see Sharma win a round.

Re: Roland Garros 2019

Seems very late to be organising a playoff.

maybe they'll just give it to Pri as a quid pro quo for helping out in Fed Cup??

It's all probably happening, just behind the scenes. TA likes to keep quiet on this (especially the French Open WC playoff).

I recommend you remove Hon's name as WC in the first post as that is just speculations (and probably not true).

Re: Roland Garros 2019

A shame so many of the girls in qualifying range dropped off, particularly after a disappointing US swing. Most will make it for the larger draw at Wimbledon I imagine, but I think a few months ago most of us thought we’d have more players at RG Q than this...

Re: Roland Garros 2019

Thank fuck for that

Potential disaster (like last year) averted. Pri hasn’t been in red hot form but she’s been solid and recently beat a top 100 player on red clay. The others have mostly been in crap form so this is the best decision.

Re: Roland Garros 2019

This was for sure the best option got it in her to win a round she's getting used to beating girls at this level now.

Re: Roland Garros 2019

It makes no sense through why our girls did the tough Green clay swing and European red clay tournies

$100 this was a maybe last minute decision from TA, you girls suck but Hon sucks less here you go

Re: Roland Garros 2019

I wonder why Hon didn't enter anything this week and next week then? Maybe she thought there would be a playoff?

She's coming into RG with very little match practice now

Re: Roland Garros 2019

Good decision. Hon has beaten Krunic, Maria, Potapova, Diatchenko and Kudermetova this year. Hope she gets a decent draw at FO.

Barty | Tomljanovic | Gavrilova | Stosur | Sharma | Hon | Adamczak

Arina lost easily to Perrin in QR1, while Birrell went down in 3 to Grammatikopoulou.
