Stevenson vs. Obata -- Predictions, thoughts

Obata was one of Alex's Grand Slam conquerors last year, beating her in round 1 of Wimbledon. Will she do it again, or will Alex exact revenge?

Obata beat Webb in 1h 2m, 6-4 6-0.
Stevenson beat Stosur in 2h 7m, 3-6 7-6(7) 7-6(8).

Remember, though, that Alex had a first round match here last year with Zvonareva which had nearly the exact same scoreline...came through and ran to the final.

Lurvve both girls, Alex NEEDS to win, to defend points and get out of her slump and it would be a great win for Saori. Don't know who to choose, go girls!!!

GO GO GO SAORI!

Obata is a really frustrating player for Alex to play, why? ---- because she has NO power in her shots. She has a beautiful game, but not powerful at all. Her only forcefull shot is her lefty double handed backhand. She is very tricky and has plenty of angles. Alex will need to power her off the court..... otherwise she will lose this match.

Why do so many of you hate Alex?

I have to go with Saori winning this one though... she's got the kind of game that Alex hates, and it doesn't look like Alex is on her game.

She's so rude, especially when she loses and barely shocks hands without even looking her opponent

And when she wins...believe me i'ts even worse...I'm still recovering from the only time I've seen her live in Wimbledon 99' doing these freaky ballet steps on court

She's so disgusting

i'm a fan of alex, i mean i want her to do well and fulfill her potential and be more consistent but i didn't like what she said after that match with stosur. here are some quotes:

"I'm happy that I pulled it out," said Stevenson. "I haven't been able to do that in my last couple of matches, so I just dug deep. Now I want to win the tournament."

i don't like it how she straight up says "now i want to win the tournament" it sounds like she is thinking about being in the final and winning rather than playing each match at a time. she thinks that one win means she will play well the whole tournament and if she does so she will win the whole tournament. i thought she would have learnt her lesson at the oz open. i'm sure she was thinking the same way and look at how she went. she had probably her biggest break in her career (besides wimbledon) in that she could have easily reached the quarter-finals but she lost in the 2nd round. she is getting ahead of herself.

Go the aussies! stosur!!!
