Question Why was Serena warned but not Lindsay?

I am watching the Davenport/Iroda match right now, and Lindsay hit a ball out of the stands at one point and broke her racket at another point...yet was never warned. Serena, of course, was warned for an obscenity. Where is the consistency in rule enforcement??

really? interesting to know..

Maybe cause of Lindsay's humbleness.. they think it wasn't purposital..

Well... It's just ridiculous for me.. She should have get that warning.. It's a rule..

I don't think there really is any consistency with the warnings. The reason Serena was warned was because a linesperson reported it to the chair right after it happened. If he hadn't of done that...I seriously doubt there would have been a warning given.

I think she did'nt say the word F***
I just dont know about the racket being broken. She could have one but I think its no big deal compare to what is comming out of your mouth. Millions are watching you play. Being disgusted at your play is normal but dont use the word F.

I must admit I was surprised that Lindsay wasn't warned about the racket breaking, and even more surprised the commentators on Eurosport didn't even mention it.

KICK SOME ASS LINDSAY!!!!!!

Anyone know the rule? I thought I did but it didn't happen. Key point. Lins gets angry hits racket on ground. Eurosport said she broke the racket and she then changed it. I thought interesting things were meant to happen if you broke it - you get more than a warning for racket abuse? Did she really break it? I can see abuse is difficult to guage but if you break it as a gesture it looks a little difficult to ignore ?

Actually I might be wrong but I think Lindsay was warned because when the next game started after she damaged her racquet it started at 15-0 (and she hadn't played a shot) which gave me the indication that she was warned.

Lindsay kicked her racquet after getting broken - along the ground to her chair (then the security guy put it back behind her chair) then she broke a string not the actual racquet face.

But unlike Serena she didn't call the lineswoman a b**** then again Andy Roddick didn't get warned for saying to the umpire "this is absolute horse-s***" and same goes for Hewitt <g>

Double standards again.

Lleyton can curse.
Andy can curse.
Lindsay can curse.
Jen can curse.

Serena says one curse, she gets a warning.

LMAO!

Well Serena was the only one who said it right at the person's face

The others were all just swearing at themselves <g> (though Andy's could be construded as being like Serena's).

I don't like it either. It seems different chair umpires;
different calls. I've seen Gambil, Roddick, and Blake
abuse rackets without warnings. Safin ALWAYS get's
warned...

Double standards? YEP!!

Why are some players warned about "time wasting"
while others get away with it?

Jen Jen cursed right at the chair umpire, right in her face, and didn't get a warning. And for the record, when did Serena ever call a lineswoman a b**** Gossipcom?
