Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

7th seed in Nottingham, first round against a Qualifier, so that won´t be easy against someone who already played some matches on grass but I hope that Mona will be able to serve well and win the match!!

2nd round vs Barty or Maria, so probably Barty and that would be really tough on grass....

Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

I'm hoping for a QF result in Nottingham at least to be honest. Should beat Fett and Barty was playing doubles final at Roland Garros, not a lot of preparation on grass

Anyways one match at a time

Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

What a flop match by Mona

5-2 up, served for it at *5-3 but got broken to love with some really bad volley errors. Still had 3 MPs in the next game and Fett definitely played well there but Mona way too careful, there were two very short serves by Fett. And then she throws in such a bad game at *5-5 where she hit 3 DFs to get broken

On to Mallorca.

Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

Has herself or Kas not realised that pushing will get you nowhere especially on grass? What happened to the aggression we saw in Prague i.e the only play style that suits her?

An awful performance and choke. I'm not impressed. Can't believe she managed to lose that

Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

well, that´s how you destroy all the earned confidence within a few weeks..

1) 06 06 to Svitolina after 63 in 1st set
2) followed by another 06 against Pironkova
3) followed by a 46 in 2nd set after a 4-1 lead and several BPs for 5-1 even
4) losing after 5-2* in 3rd set and 3 MPs at 5-4*

I couldn´t watch it today unfortunately but it does not surprise me that Mona was too passive once again, on clay that style obviously works better but no chance on grass if you play like that!

Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

It's so disappointing. After Prague I really thought this would be when Mona finds consistency, but her confidence is all gone now... Back to square 1 really

I'm happy to see she's playing doubles this week with Sevastova. Hopefully some wins

Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

Qualifier is waiting in Mallorca as well, some better names or grass specialists in Q also, so hope she gets one of the "easier" Qualifiers!

She got a qualifier in Nottingham too so I have no expectations

Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

Opponent is Anna Kalinskaya, who beat Witthöft in FQR, but I think/hope that Mona will beat her

Re: Mona's Grass Season 2017

I've seen a few of Anna Kalinskaya's matches and she's an inconsistent teenager. Hopefully Mona's experience prevails
Also I don't expect it to be very windy in Mallorca, which was a factor in Nottingham
