2017 Road to Melbourne

Mona starts her season in the q-draw of Auckland:

(2)Linette v Barthel
(wc)Carswell v (wc)Claudia Williams
Aoyama v Razzano
(wc)Routliffe v (8)Jakupovic

An abbreviated 2016 saw her ranking plummet out of the Top 100 for the first time in 5 years. Can she rebound?

Re: 2017 Road to Melbourne

It all depends on Mona, if she's healthy and confident she sould qualify as she's easily the best player in her section. But the most important thing is that she stays healthy anyway.

Re: 2017 Road to Melbourne

Mona beat Madga in three tough sets, 62 46 64. Mona couldn't quite rebound from a deficit in the second, and was up 4-1 in the third and made that a bit difficult, but won the last set to love on Madga's serve.

Second round should be quick and dirty

Good to kick a terrible year out with a win.
Nobody knows who is Carswell but mighty Mo shouldn't lose to her even in ambulance.

I'm relieved that she was able to fight past Linette, now she has a cakewalk to the MD, please don't mess it up Mona!

Re: 2017 Road to Melbourne

Nice win and, maybe, her serve is back to being potent, for she fired off 12 aces in the match.

Good serve stats. Not only the aces. Even the percentes where good. Won points are very good und 1st serve in was good except the 3rd set.

Re: 2017 Road to Melbourne

She shouldn't have any trouble against Jo. Probably will be around 1 & 1. Jo didn't have any power last time I saw her a year or two ago. Mona should be hitting winners left and right. Kind of an old school player, smart but doesn't have the shots. Maybe she's improved a bit, I honestly didn't even expect Jo to beat Claudia (and Mona would beat her comfortably too) but then again Claudia has had some kind of injury which has meant she hasn't played matches in a long time. I would back NZers Paige Hourigan and Rosie Cheng to beat Jo- and neither could beat Mona. Paige does have the forehand power to be dangerous mind you and Rosie seems to have some talent to develop. Well in my opinion Jo would be maybe the fourth or fifth best Kiwi girl, and really only Marina should have any chance against Mona.

The work I've been putting into developing and enhancing my psychic abilities is really starting to pay off.

Re: 2017 Road to Melbourne

Double breadsticks Carswell in 40 minutes

Now faces (8)Jakupovic for the q-spot.

Re: 2017 Road to Melbourne

Good start into 2017 for Mona!
But surely her opponent today was no real test for her anyway but good stats and a good win over Linette before also!
She should be able to qualify now, good luck.
