Re: 2016 Rest of the Season

lost 67(7) 46 to Abanda
I did not watch it, Mona was down 1-4 in 1st set and then served for the set at *54 but was not able to take that chance.
2nd set she got broken in her first service game, no further breaks after that.

Mona won 80% of the pts over 1st serve, that´s good but 9 DFs and only 35% pts won over 2nd serve.
Her first serve might help her to get some wins, especially if she plays some ITFs also but it´s tough to predict, Mona´s serve is not always a weapon unfortunately.

Hopefully Mona´s body will be strong enough for the upcoming matches also.

Re: 2016 Rest of the Season

I was watching it - tbh, only here and there because it was really hard to take.
Some convincing and straightforward play against a not so bad opponent but a lot more of those unexplicably easy errors and technical problems esspecially on her forhand side which still makes her look only like a kind of half of a player..
So it`s definitely no phenix from the ashes after her crisis. To say it with kind words - Mona is stagnating.
Some hard work and thinking about ahead of her, even more if she will tumble down the rankings in the next few weeks as it looks.

I don't see the point in playing any further in 2016. Just prepare for 2017

Re: 2016 Rest of the Season

She might be fine to play for hours and wouldn't want to get kicked out of top 200, which makes it tougher to climb up again. Any little points to defend could be crucial. Wonder if she's coming in my crazy town next week at the risk of nuclear missiles, earthquakes, toxic micro heavy metal smog air, etc.

It's ridiculous how absolutely nothing's done about it with many coaches for those years.

As long she gets in some MDs and qualies she sould try to get with luck some point, to stay somewhere arround #100. If it doesn't work she can still skip Astralia and prepare than.

I'll be so angry if she doesn't play Tashkent...

Re: 2016 Rest of the Season

I saw her again and it was a quite good hitting session with Tig. I couldn't help but notice the slightly reduced forehand back swing (since when?) and the ample amount of spin she can generate. Things are always working fine when relaxed, you know. If she tries to move her feet and not to get panicked for no reason, she'll defend some points here.

Re: 2016 Rest of the Season

plays 1st round against 7th seed Gibbs!

well, Gibbs is really solid, not the biggest weapons but I guess that Mona won't be consistent enough to win that one in her current shape but we´ll see, good luck!

Re: 2016 Rest of the Season

I don’t expect anything from Mona for the rest of the season, and I assume that she has to start from zero in 2017. So I also expect that Gibbs will be too solid for her in her current form, also keeping in mind Mona's disastrous record against feisty american players.

But Mona is hard to predict, so who knows.

Oh my god she's now a cheater wearing that fluorescent camouflage.

Anyway she focused on hitting deep, low and hard to put Gibbs on the edge and for once it was successful.
Padre Giorgi scouted the whole 1st set to prepare the 2nd round as if it means something to his child.

And hopefully with Kas at least until the first quarter despite no results so far after the comeback.
Somehow he looks like a decent guy to cooperate with.

Re: 2016 Rest of the Season

Good result and a good fight!

Stats look average but who cares, great to see her fighting back from a set and break down, nice surprise for a change!

Giorgi again next, hope she can win more than 4 games this time, good luck!!
