Re: 2016 Comeback On Clay?

I don't have any news concerning Mona's health but I decided to make a new thread. She keeps entering tournaments so it's definitely mysterious what is going on with her.

She's not on the qualifying list for Stuttgart anymore.

I really hoped that she would be ready for the clay season, withdrawing from Stuttgart is not a good sign obviously, so not sure at all yet when we can expect her comeback but yeah, she keeps entering the tournaments, so let´s try to stay positive...
A statement or update on her FB page would be nice as well!

Re: 2016 Comeback on Clay?

If it actually was a disc prolapse it`s not wonderous to me that she`s still recovering.
I had a slight one 2 years ago and it took about 7 months with daily gymnastic, osteopathic surgery and some reindentifiction with my job to make me walk straight forward again.
A few words from Mona indeed would be nice. Some people on facebook probably could ask her politely to give a sign of life.

What first of all is a good sign.
Of course I don`t know as much as anybody else in here about her illness or injury.
If it was actually the above mentioned issue the healing process is pretty hard to predict also in your own perception of the symptoms. Things went much better surprisingly rapid at some point. So far at least my experience.
Whatever Mona might be struggling with, I hope and guess that there will be some good medical specialists around her.

Re: 2016 Comeback on Clay?

Mona Barthel
This was definitely one of the toughest times in my life. I know I didn't keep you updated very well and you might have guessing what was going on. But I got really really sick when I got back from Australia.
To be honest with you I already wasn't feeling well since December, but I didn't took it so seriously back then. When I got to New Zealand/ Australia I was struggling with a lot of health issues as well. But it got really bad when I got back home. I basically lay in bed for 7 weeks and wasn't able to do anything besides going to doctors making tests and waiting for results. For weeks I wasn't able to walk more than 300m. It was a really challenging time, especially when you are an athlete and you are used to that your body is working on a high level day in and day out.
I made countless tests, seeing a lot of different doctors (I guess I am one of the best checked people right now).
There were a few results that were conspicuous, but all didn't really fit together. So for weeks the doctors didn't really know what was going on, which lead to incidental findings, wrong diagnosis and nearly an operation. But now they are pretty sure it must have been some kind of virus, that had a really strong impact on my muscle and nervous system, that maybe lead to an inflammation of the muscles.
Well that has been a lot of information, but the most important one is that I am starting to feel better. I am so happy and grateful that the doctors didn't find anything more "serious" and that I am slowly feeling better. I still have a long way to go and doing "normal" things are still challenging for me, but it is going in the right direction.
My heart goes out to all the people not feeling well and to the people by their side, because like I have experienced it is not easy for your loved ones seeing someone not feeling well.
I hope that I have a quick recovery and I hope to see you all soon on court❤.

Mona posted this just minutes ago on FB. Wishing her nothing but the best!

Mona That doesn't sound too well but it's nice to hear that she's finally recovering. I hope she will be healthy again soon

Re: 2016 Comeback on Clay?

It’s worrying that the doctors haven’t really found out what exactly happened to Mona. Her remarks about her actual physical condition leads me to think that it still might take her a few months to get back into a competitive shape.

I wish you a full recovery, Mona! Take your time!

Re: 2016 Comeback on Clay?

yeah, I also think that it is not good that the doctors are still not 100% sure what happened to Mona, that´s never a good sign but it is positive that Mona slowly feels better but tough to say when she will come back and how successful she will be, just hope that she can recover totally and that this strange virus (or whatever it is) won´t bother her anymore!

Thanks for the info. I never visit facebook for a reason.

So it's very mysterious and private, and she gets me into thinking again.
Except the case of wear and tear from mere overwork, there's a theory if a different perspective is needed for better understanding and recovery.

The major premise is "The world doesn't waste you as a useful cell."

Roughly from a Japanese book.

What is disease?
The biggest message diseases send us is not what you should do but what you shouldn't do.
You're practically getting saved by them instead.
......
It's usually caused by excess of words and deeds, thoughts and actions rather than physical matters and you have to come to a halt by the auto-brake called disease.

And a German Dahlke's book.

The forced consequences
Almost all symptoms compel behavioral changes that can be sorted into two groups:
On the one hand symptoms prevent us from doing things we like, and on the other hand, they force us to do what we don't want to. For example, a flu prevents us from going to an invited place, and forces us to stay in bed. A broken leg prevents us to play sports, and forces us to rest. If we assume the disease has intention and a meaning, the forced changes tell us the intention of the symptom. A forced correction should be taken seriously.
...... However, it would be important to be really disturbed once because a symptom always tries to correct the biased part.
...... The symptom unveils the polarity you didn't notice. We should pay attention more and voluntarily accept the compulsion. Illness is always a crisis and every crisis requires development.
......

Whatever it is, hurry up as the world is going crazy!

Re: 2016 Comeback on Clay?

Curious. Hope she gets better fairly quickly. But this will probably take a decent amount of time. She will need to rebuild her strength and fitness over a few months I suspect.

Sounds like some kind of chronic fatigue syndrome. I presume you have that term in German? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_fatigue_syndrome

It's not a very well understood phenomenon at the moment but tends to be linked to certain infections. Physically Mona probably has to change some things, perhaps her diet and exercise routine? I wonder how well she is sleeping.
