This was definitely one of the toughest times in my life. I know I didn't keep you updated very well and you might have guessing what was going on. But I got really really sick when I got back from Australia.
To be honest with you I already wasn't feeling well since December, but I didn't took it so seriously back then. When I got to New Zealand/ Australia I was struggling with a lot of health issues as well. But it got really bad when I got back home. I basically lay in bed for 7 weeks and wasn't able to do anything besides going to doctors making tests and waiting for results. For weeks I wasn't able to walk more than 300m. It was a really challenging time, especially when you are an athlete and you are used to that your body is working on a high level day in and day out.
I made countless tests, seeing a lot of different doctors (I guess I am one of the best checked people right now
There were a few results that were conspicuous, but all didn't really fit together. So for weeks the doctors didn't really know what was going on, which lead to incidental findings, wrong diagnosis and nearly an operation. But now they are pretty sure it must have been some kind of virus, that had a really strong impact on my muscle and nervous system, that maybe lead to an inflammation of the muscles.
Well that has been a lot of information, but the most important one is that I am starting to feel better. I am so happy and grateful that the doctors didn't find anything more "serious" and that I am slowly feeling better. I still have a long way to go and doing "normal" things are still challenging for me, but it is going in the right direction.
My heart goes out to all the people not feeling well and to the people by their side, because like I have experienced it is not easy for your loved ones seeing someone not feeling well.
I hope that I have a quick recovery and I hope to see you all soon on court❤.
