I am wondering it too. It is a tough turn around if she goes deep again next week

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

The women's qualifying stars on the Tuesday so she'll have at least a day's break.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

She's played Garros qualies 4 times, qualified and won a round in the main draw 3 of those times, and reached the final qualifying round the other time.

Given the prize money and points, and her good record there, I think it'd be madness for her to miss it. She'd be seeded to qualify, too, so would be protected in the early rounds.

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

First round win over McNally puts her live ranking at #102, which will no doubt get bumped a few spots after all first rounds are complete, so it’ll still be hit and miss for the USO MD at this stage. Next up faces either Rogers or Kontaveit. Not a terrible draw either way

Judging you based on the players in your sig.

Yup Kontaveit has not played well recently

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Both players were very nervy and struggled to hold serve. Once Heather had taken the first set tie break though she played much better. Kontaveit next, which will be tricky I think.

Ash Barty - Angelique Kerber - Johanna Konta - Naomi Osaka - Nadia Petrova - Laura Robson - Aryna Sabalenka- Taylor Townsend - Heather Watson

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Glad she got a win here, as it means a lot to her. Hopefully she can channel some crowd support against Anett.

Strycova ~ Robson ~ Watson ~ Konta ~ Siniakova

Barty ~ Parmentier ~ Swan ~ Bencic ~ Vekic ~ Raducanu ~ Halep ~ Galfi ~ Riske

Re: Heather's Cheering Thread

Good to see her take advantage of her fortunate R1 draw.

She's 2-all in the H2H with Anett. On current form, she's the underdog, but that's not a match that she will have lost before she even steps on the court.

Kontaveit can play so well on grass. I saw her once at Eastbourne, she hits ferociously and so flat. But her form has been very questionable since losing in the Stuttgart final. Well Kontaveit is the clear favourite, but Hev will have every confidence she can win.

she looked so happy when she won - it was lovely to see. I wish they'd shown her mother's reaction too - I really like her.

Kontaveit is so in and out. Even in her R1 match - she won a bagel first set, and then managed to lose the second. But yeah, she is obviously the favourite.

Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.
