Yes. Every 25k MD has five spots reserved for the best 15k players.

Just like every 15k MD has five spots reserved for the best juniors.

Re: W25 Hong Kong (HKG) 2019 | Dec 31

Oliynykova has made some confusing scheduling choices for someone with financial struggles. Having barely played anything on HCs in her career, she should be playing 15ks to increase her shadow ranking and gain some experience on the surface. Then she could switch to 25k without having to travel too far from home. I don’t see any benefit in travelling all the way to Hong Kong for such a strong tournament where she will most likely get routined 2&2 by 90% of MD players. She also most likely won’t get into the second event, as she’s alternate #2 for the ITF spots and over 50 spots away in the alternates list.

Lopatetskaya’s career management is a bit concerning too. She was “forced” by her mother to play in Dubai when she knew she was in horrible form and didn’t wanna go (ended up losing easily in qualifying), yet for some reason they’ve decided to skip junior AO (and maybe the other slams too) to focus on pros. She did play well in Canada, but I’m not sure how right it is to quit juniors at 16 when you’ve only played one junior slam in your career.

I see Elena Bogdan made the trip there... really curious if she makes the dubs draw with the new rules

Qualy draw out, Em misses cut by 1 place.

Interesting that even in a 24 draw they are keeping 4 wildcards. I had thought they might drop that allocation down in a smaller draw

Re: W25 Hong Kong (HKG) 2019 | Dec 31 (Qualifying Draw)

Meiling Wang prefers playing ITF 25K qualifying rather than accepting the announced ShenZhen WTA Q WC.

If she did play and lost ShenZhen yesterday, could she still sign in today for the Hong Kong qualifying, not allowed?

Quote:
g. Playing Singles/Doubles the Same Week in Different Tournaments
A player is allowed to play singles in one (1) Tournament and doubles in another Tournament in the same week, provided the player
has been eliminated from one (1) Tournament by the doubles sign-in
deadline of the other Tournament. A player may not participate in
both Tournaments at the same time.
How about lost in WTA Qualifying and then play only ITF Qualifyng ?
Quote:
A player is not allowed to compete in singles in two (2) Tournaments
held in the same week and will be withdrawn from the second
Tournament by the appropriate entry authority (i.e., a player may
not play the Qualifying of a WTA Tournament, lose, and then play
the Main Draw of a Women’s ITF World Tennis Tour event in the same
week).

It's not allowed. Only doubles would.

They did remove two qualifying wildcards (one in 15k's). It used to be six in the qualifying (eight in 64-128 draws).

My bad, of course. Wangs decision seems odd. Why turn down a WTA opportunity?
