Mirjana's Midwinter/Spring Campaign 2016

She draws Irina Falconi in Acapulco's first round, with Konta or Kontaveit as a possible 2nd round match-up.

Doable.

Re: Mirjana's Midwinter/Spring Campaign 2016

Falconi is consisent and gives a lot of effort, but unless she's totally off, Mirjana should overpower her. She did so the last time they played at 2014 US Open Qualifying.

Konta has obviously been really good lately, but let's take care of Falconi first.

Good luck Miki

that does kind of suck

I am not sure why they start play so late (4 pm Mexican time). I guess it his very hot there

I have watched a few of Mirjana's streamed matches in the middle of the night, and I didn't think it was worth the effort.

Yeah, sometimes I'd wake up at like 4 AM only to watch her have one of her days when she stands better chance at hitting a spectator in the head than find the court with the ball... Therefore I don't think I'll be watching despite the streaming (sorry to say that), but hope you guys have some nice time watching our girl

Re: Mirjana's Midwinter/Spring Campaign 2016

And good she did

6:2, 6:3 is a nice start after a long break indeed.

Next up, Aussie Open semifinalist Konta, world #26. They've played eachother once before, on green clay of Raleigh back in 2010 and Konta won 2 & 4, but this should be a completely different match altogether as Konta did need 3 sets to take care of Kontaveit in her first round here.

Good luck Miki!

Re: Mirjana's Midwinter/Spring Campaign 2016

First I decide to watch the match in the middle of the night cause something's telling me she could win.

Then I miss the alarm.

Then in the morning I see the score and curse myself for sleeping through it.

Then I see the witness reports in the live-score thread and have to say I'm not upset anymore. Not one bit. Who needs that drama at 2 AM

Really happy to see her through, despite trying her best to mess everything up for no reason, but that's Miki and we're more or less used to all kinds of crazy with her.

Her ranking won't improve much even if she reaches the semi, but that's not as important as her stringing two wins in the same event - that should be good for confidence.

Enjoy your win(s) Miki

Screw the semi, no reason she can't win this title. She needs to believe that. Let's go Miki!

Re: Mirjana's Midwinter/Spring Campaign 2016

Plays today (Thursday), at 5PM local time so exactly midnight CET.

I'll do my best to watch...

Good luck Miki!
