Welcome to Linz, Austria! The Asian outdoor hardcourt season has finally wound down after the Premier Mandatory event in Beijing, China. This means the 2011 season will finish with the now-diminished European indoor season. Though this season used to feature a string of premier events, including Linz, which has now been reduced to just one, which isn't Linz, many top players still remember this season's glory and wish to play anyway, meaning that this tournament has a better lineup than most tournaments of its kind. Additionally, players and teams alike who are on the brink of qualification for the TEB-BNP Paribas WTA Championships in Istanbul, Turkey in just two weeks time are using these last few tournaments of the year to pick up valuable points in this quest. Therefore Linz is topped by Austalian Open champions Gisela Dulko or Argentina and Flavia Pennetta of Italy, who have proven their worth on the PYW doubles tour this year many times. Second seeds, Natalie Grandin of South Africa and Vladimíra Uhlířová of the Czech Republic recently finished as runners-up in PYW Doubles Seoul, which means they will be a strong force as well. However, stern opposition will come to them from popular Germans Anna-Lena Grönefeld and Julia Görges, who lay in this bottom quarter. With these teams in action and thirteen more, there will be lots of exciting action straight from Linz! Vote now as the Generali Ladies Linz begins!!!
