Madonna at Eurovision in Tel Aviv

What are your thoughts?

I think she earns too much for what she´s doing lately, she doesn´t stand the test of time anymore, except for her fancy anti-aging treatments

Re: Madonna at Eurovision in Tel Aviv

Her music sucks now. Why does she insist on using that awful auto-tune/vocoder effect on her voice? And the production is so mediocre these days, I remember when she'd pick out one producer (who, a lot of the time, was somewhat unknown) and do an entire album with them. But since Hard Candy she works with a tonne of "trendy" producers who everyone else is working with and the results are what you'd expect really. Since 2008 she has totally shat on what was a totally stellar discography. Sad.

As for the performance, I didn't watch because I decided not to watch Eurovision this year.

Re: Madonna at Eurovision in Tel Aviv

Madonna in ESC was one of those things which sounded good when you came up with it. I mean I initially also thought it is a good idea. Lets bring some bigtime star to give ESC a rub. But yeah...it is obvious she is done. I bet they are regretting the whole thing now.

As the dude having paid for that, i would have pulled a Thatcher: "I want my money back".

She was a 60yo trapped in the body of a 70yo trying not to fall down the stairs and not to break her hip. And I say this as a fan from the very beginnings.

I have no idea why they chose Madonna.... They could easily hired anyone else. Cher would slay Tel Aviv easily.

She's tarnishing her legacy
That was embarassing and I'm kind.

She hasn't really been relevant since her duet with Justin Timblerlake in 2008

Cher already gave full playback concerts over 15 years ago. Not that great either.

Re: Madonna at Eurovision in Tel Aviv

OTOH, I have to give some credit for her for at least attempting to sing live in this time & era. Too bad she can't pull it off anymore.

Re: Madonna at Eurovision in Tel Aviv

At this point it's just sad to see. Embarrassing performance, embarrassing re-editing of the vocals with the false notes posthumously "corrected", embarrassing new output (so much for the overly anticipated "fado influences" in the upcoming record, lol) and doggedly tarnishing her legacy since the end of the Confessions era. Just stahp

Re: Madonna at Eurovision in Tel Aviv

I thought the visuals and the choreography were great. Her voice wasn't on point, yes, but I think she's being unfairly targeted, and I am wondering how much this has to do with bringing out the Palestinian flag.

Obviously organizers brought her as they thought she'd make a great selling for the event and for Israel. They forgot that she's Madonna, and she ain't selling herself without making her own statement and pulled one on them. Interesting that a message of peace and a mere flag can be so controversial.

Her performance was easily the worst of the night, including all the 26 actual contestants, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the flag. She was simply bad.

Re: Madonna at Eurovision in Tel Aviv

I didn't get why she didn't have a female choir - or at least with some female singers in that choir for the Like A Prayer part of the performance
