Well yeah I agree, but I just went with it. Let's say they sponsor them with clothes.
Sure, but I'm not convinced that some of the girls on this list even get sent clothes, so it's not an accurate representation.
Kuznetsova used to wear Fila for years, but I remember reading on here that Fila mostly just used to send her clothes, and she'd only ever see money from them when she won big titles. And this was for somebody who was on the biggest stages in the game week on week. Hagatha and Bartoli struggled to get deals for ages. I'm sure looks had a part to play, but remember, these are players from countries with a big population who could guarantee exposure. The likes of Diatchenko or whoever have absolutely zero leverage with clothing companies, thus I doubt clothing companies are rushing to send her tons of freebies in the hope somebody spots it on a 50k livestream.
I'm sure a lot of the young girls who were signed by management companies like Konjuh, Bencic, or Vekic do indeed have deals, but I'd say they're very dependent on early career results. For instance, MLDB was sponsored by Addidas when she first broke through but I very much doubt she has any financial backing from sponsors now that her career has fizzled.
Wow, tennis outfitting is a really saturated market. 25 brands represented among the top 120 and I know that there are at least 2 brands used my male players (uniqlo, H&M) that aren't even represented here.
I'd be interested to know if there's an equivalent thread about racquet sponsors, I assume that there are fewer manufacturers represented than in the apparel game.
