It depends. Does it mean in addition to what we have already? If that's the case, supreme shotmaking. If it is basically like creating a player in a tennis game, I'd actually go with athleticism. Venus, ASV, Clijsters, Mauresmo have all proven if you're a great athlete, even if you choke a bunch (*cough Kim* *cough Mauresmo*), you can get a good career. It's actually a little funny to see Venus in just the one category and not at least two of them, because she is a big shotmaker as well, but I guess moreso in her prime than currently.

Tennis's Sailor Guardians

Silver Milennium: Queen Serenity (22), Sailor Garbi (2), Sailor Venus (7), Sailor GOATra (2), Sailor Kerber (2), Sailor Darth Vika (2), Sailor Chibi Serenity (Sailor Osaka)
The Outer Guardians: Sailor Simona, Sailor Ostapenko ('17 RG), Sailor Plisbot, Sailor Stephens ('17 USO)
The Sailor Starlights: Sailor Anci ('08 RG), Sailor St. Kim (4), Sailor Mahree (2)

Bump:

This is an oldie but a goodie.

Add some of the newer girls in here, Iím curious how we are predetermining them.

Feel free to chat about anyone- maybe who you think they are now vs where they may end up.

Some girls I donít know how to categorize: Muguruza, Osaka, Bertens

Kerber, Halep, Svitolina, Stephens are SA
Andresscu, Pliskova, Konta, Kenin is SM
Keys, Yatstremska are SS

Have fun

Someone is in a necrobumping mood!

Bertens isn't SM at any rate Considering she managed to play so many matches this year maybe SA? Not sure.
Pliskova in SM? Her great serve seems to desert her in the most important times. She has had some clutch moments like the Serena AO match but she has some great chokes as well. Andreescu and Kenin in SM agreed, but Konta.... no. RG SF for example comes to mind.
VeeJJ likes this.

Ash Barty | Venus Williams | Elina Svitolina | Hsieh Su-wei | Czech players

There are some who are hard to classify in this three-part system.

Players like Petkovic and Konta, for example, aren't especially supreme athletes OR shot makers, but they worked extremely hard to maximize their physicality and that is, in a way, a form of mental strength, even though it doesn't manifest itself in terms of on-court mental fortitude.

It generally works in that these three elements are the most primary, but there are some weird outliers, too.

Pliskova is definitely a SS, her mentality is very poor in big matches and usually her level drops at times when other top players step on the gas pedal. She gets broken quite often serving at 4-4 and 5-4, after barely dropping any points on serve the rest of the set.

But her baseline level is enough to win her a lot of Premiers and a Tier I here and there.
