Caro's FH is pretty bad, but BH seems technically sound, and her serve is fine, too.

I would say Bartoli--nothing technically correct about her forehand, backhand, or serve.

I'm surprised so many people are saying Petkovic--I agree with the FH, but I kind of like the backhand
To me Petkovic has one of the ugliest backhands, it looks like she's playing baseball... I put it right there with Niculescu's FH in terms of obnoxiousness.

Re: Best player with the worst technique or under-developed game?

Venus Williams without a doubt. Here is a 7 time GS winner who is technically incapable of hitting half the shots in the game: no topspin lob, dreadful drop-shot, horrible slice. Nevermind that the only shots she can hit (standard serve, forehand, backhand) all have kinks and hitches.

Jumping back a few decades... Graf's technique was far from brilliant, particularly the forehand and serve.
Yet we all know the damage she could do with that forehand.

Of the current crop, I have to agree with Petko. Though as has been stated, she's pretty solid off of both wings despite the technique.

Hingis is more accomplished in every other category, despite having played for a much shorter period of time. Venus can thank Jehovah that she's 6'2 and super-athletic, because if her and Hingis switched physiques their Slam counts would be 20 Hingis and 0 Venus (who would never have reached top 10)

Of course, no one would ever think of Hingis in this thread

"Sometimes we've wondered if Martina actually knew what she was saying. Maybe it was her age or inexperience or something got lost in the translation. But I don't know. She comes out with something astounding and then just stares at you like, 'What did I say?' But then she'll have that glint in her eye."

Re: Best player with the worst technique or under-developed game?

I've always wondered how far could Gisela Dulko go if she hired a real coach instead of her brother. She has so much rough variety, but her technique is awful at times, makes you think she's an amateur with the sort of mistakes she can come up with.

Re: Best player with the worst technique or under-developed game?

The title says BEST player with the worst tecnique... So it can't be Oudin or Coin (they are best player of what?) i see a lot of players compensate their lack of tecnique with their talent, for example for me jankovic hasn't the best tecnique even on the backhand in terms on feet positioning and all the rest, but she has an amazing natural talent with that shot and she can make it just with the hands even if the rest of the body is in wrong position

i like JJ

Supporter of the lefties Safarova, Kerber and Benesova trying to replace the great Patty Schnyder
