You are so right. The best defense is a good offense and that is what this nice bunch is trying to pull off. Now Parks mom is ranting about coaching and tweeting pics of Sebov’s mom which I am sure they actually took during the match – unreal!!

For me it is interesting multicultural situation and I see it in very wide context. Later when Parks went to fight Sebov, Sebov was more then ready to really fight... not just to defend itself, but also to aggressively and systematically counter attack... and moves and body language that Parks held prior to that was sure psychological trigger for that on Sebov side. Of course that is not excuse for such bad behavior.

There was no winner in this situation and both girls need to do deep self reflections and invest big effort in overcoming it if they want to be really successful sportswomen.

"went to fight"

It's pretty laughable that you both automatically assume that Parks was going to be violent. We've seen hundreds of players engaging in the petty shit that both were doing and many others cross the net to argue with an opponent after the match. It was Sebov who stepped forward, pushed her and turned a typical dumb petty post-match squabble into a physical altercation. Sad that so many in this thread can't see that.

If the races were reversed this would be a major mainstream news story.

Re: CATFIGHT DRAMA: Parks v Sebov ITF 60K Las Vegas

We don't know what happened in the match. It must have been a hot one. The loud come ON after match point by Sebov was provocative and rubbing it in. But she has that right to express herself, freedom of speech. That seemed to enrage Parks who snapped at the handshake, which looked fair. The father snapped also, trying to beg for the forfeit win which was pathetic and embarrassing. Sebov won a fierce battle. Parks behaved like a thug and so did her father. Hat's off to Sebov.

Re: CATFIGHT DRAMA: Parks v Sebov ITF 60K Las Vegas

A firm handshake is now wrong? Sebov has a firm handshake. Tough luck. Sebov had every right to push her away, Parks tried to confront her or maybe even get in position to throw a punch. Sebov pushing her away was the right over. Get Parks going after her was the offense, Sebov's shove was the defense.

Totally clear cut incident, Parks should be suspended. No opponent should have to put up with that sort of thing. As soon as Parks threw the racquet you could tell she was on the war path. Crying racism shouldn't be used as refuge for excusing really bad sportsmanship. Crying racism should only be used when there is racism.

She literally walked up to Sebov after the Umpire tried to stop her getting close, she ignore him and went up to Sebov with aggressive body language. Sebov put her hands out when she was getting too close, She was displaying all the signs she was going to be violent. This has nothing to do with race, but anybody going to walk up to my face walking like that, they are looking for a fight point blank. She should've stop walking towards Sebov like that when the Umpire put his hands out.

Last year Pav crossed the over to the other side towards Sloane. Did she also walk aggressively, and thus deserved a shove?

She wasn't at shoving distance during the altercation

Re: CATFIGHT DRAMA: Parks v Sebov ITF 60K Las Vegas

Parks should not have followed Sebov after the handshake, she should have gone to her own chair.
Parks was very angry/furious/aggressive and almost ran into/attacked Sebov. So of course Sebov defended herself and pushed Parks back away from her, that was a defensive push - because Parks got too close to her with very aggressive behaviour and Sebov was in danger (that was very disrespectful behaviour from Parks and she had no right to).

Thank God the umpire and some other people stopped the angry Parks and her father (?). Both were so aggressive and almost attacked Sebov.

The funny part was when Parks´ coach/father (?) jumped over the fence on the court

Maybe both Parks and Sebov were not innocent. They both seem like rather feisty girls -> see Sebov´s scream after the win and also Parks throwing her racket to the ground after the loss.

Losing a match (and close set) can be disappointing, but that was too much from Parks.

She made some unconventional body moves right before that handshake which clearly provoked the conflict. If she is fined or suspended that is nothing but fair.
Thanks. Interesting info.

I didn't know that Pav understood and spoke French

Anyhow, this thread has been quite entertaining.

Nah bro! That white chick just wanted to talk to SLOANE "CHICKED OUT" STEPHENS. No body language insinuating RAGE. Parks, as she walked towards SEBOV, was clearly chicking out her head side-to-side as if she was heated up about something. Then, she swung her arm instead of just gently extending her hand to SEBOV for the shake. When it comes to body language, the black chicks seem to get "CHICKED OUT" a lot more than the white chicks. WORD!

Much ado about nothing. Wake me up when there's real drama. Kyrgios level.
