And I demand to be honored as King of islands Saipan and Bora Bora.
Honestly, this is a very very weird way how to ask for a warm celebration of her achievements.

I personally would give her a chance and invite, but from the other side there should be zero homophobia in sports like racism and sexism. When she is against same-sex marriage and is talking it in public, her words hurt some people.

You know, when we celebrate a career, speeches often say stuff like "you did so much for the sports and beyond, you're not only a great sportswoman but also a great human being, etc".
WhistleCleaner likes this.

Who cares of hypertrophic weapons when the player on the court moves like music?

They should honour her by renaming her court Evonne Goolagong Cawley Arena.

On the other hand, I would need to know her opinions and statements on the topic. IMHO I don't think itself opposition to same-sex marriage is homophobic (and I'm gay and for same-sex marriage), context always matters.

it's Billie Jean King's fault.

She's the one who opened the can of worms that whatever the Aussies do for Rod, they should do for her too

Even if I don´t agree with her beliefs whatsoever, and even if most of tennis community also disagree, I think it´s unfair to discriminate her because of what she said, it´s not that she´s the record 24 GS holder or because she has the CYGS but because that´s not the way to deal with that

She actively campaigned against same-sex marriage. Here are some statements she has made:

Quote:
[...] homosexuality was an ungodly "lust for the flesh" and that LGBT tendencies in young people were "all the devil". "That's what Hitler did. That's what communism did," Court said, "get in the minds of the children. There's a whole plot in our nation and in the nations of the world to get in the minds of the children." [...]

In America, she said "92 per cent were abused sexually or emotionally when they were young even to be this way".

Tennis was full of lesbians, she said. In her day, there were only "a couple", but they were disproportionately influential. "They took the young ones to parties and things," she said.

Advocate for gay conversion "therapy":
Quote:
Court, who is senior pastor at Perth’s Victory Life Centre church, claims she has nothing against gay people. Rather, she simply helps gay people in her church “overcome” their homosexuality.

“We have them in our church. I help them to overcome. We have people who have been homosexual who are now married,” Court said. It is this, not her views on marriage, the LGBTI community should rightly fight against.
Source: Court's pro-conversion stance the real concern - Star Observer

Quote:
Court has famously called the existence of transgender children “the devil” and prior to the marriage vote, she threatened that right of same-sex couples to marry was a slippery slope to the undoing of all that Christians hold sacred.

"They want marriage because they want to destroy it. There will be no Mother’s Day, there will be no Father’s Day, there will be no Easter, there will be no Christmas,” Court said at the time.

I hope she gets invited only to gay clubs, not anywhere else.

It's like saying Babe Ruth wasn't a serious baseball player because he played in the dead-ball era. Or Wilt Chamberlain wasn't a serious basketball player because there was no 3pt shot in the rules. Or Juan Manuel Fangio wasn't a serious F1 driver because they only had 8 races in the calendar
