2) Anisimova is 18: usually when one's commercial potential as a potential superstar athlete is exploited. Gauff still has nearly 3 years to hit this age and this is hardly the time to cash in. Serena won a slam before Venus, but Venus signed the biggest apparel deal in tennis with Reebok in the 90's.
3) Commercial decisions like this are made based on market projections with brand exposure and profit motive in mind and not based on sinister discrimination. It would be illogical for big brands to ignore their financial bottomline to make decisions based on racial bias. Tough luck if their own studies and projections suggest the slender, white, blonde girl can earn them more money and exposure. That's capitalism. They want to make money.
4) I don't get why this matters to you. Coco Gauff probably already out-earns a player like Sofia Kenin off the court - a YEC alternate. And by the time she's 18 to 20, she'll be raking in well into 8-figures a year. Imagine getting pissed off a 15-year-old isn't getting $100m.
did i say it matters to me? i expressed an opinion same as you...the resst is your typical bs

Re: Amanda Anisimova signs enormous Nike deal

Anisimova and Gauff both received big endorsement deals. There's no need to pit one against the other especially as it wasn't as though Nike gave one a better deal than the other - they have deals with different clothing brands and are managed by different companies.
guichard and LewisCarroll like this.

It may not be exaggerated but it must be including all the performances bonuses you can think of. She would probably need to win the Calendar Slam twice within the duration of the contract to get the $100 millions. There was a lot of rumours about Nike's imminent withdrawal from the tennis market just last year.

It says it's one of the biggest ever *for a teenager*. She could get 500K/year and that would probably be massive for a Slamless teenager.

It reminded me of the time Raonic's agent said his New Balance was similar to a Big Four deal. As if.

The 100 million is Australian $$$ , 70 millions US $$$. One week later , none of the big US tennis writers has written about it .
The article did not talk about term(s). For example, 70 over 8 years is different than 60 over 10

Just setting her up for failure. She hasn't done anything to warrant that but let's see if she can win something big.

Because Anisimova has way more potential. Yastremska is the most one dimensional player on tour. At the moment, she’s a B grade Ostapenko. Anisimova actually has a rally tolerance of greater than 4 .

Amanda probably hits harder, but is too one-note at the moment. I suspect she may slump at the beginning of 2020 due to the pressure of living up to the contract and still getting over the horrible tragedy she suffered, which is totally understandable.
Literally the opposite of what you said is true. Yastremska probably hits harder but the downside is that she’s far more one dimensional. Her shot tolerance is non existent. And there are still many players that can just serve her off the court. Anisimova is much better all-round player and therefore has far more upside, in my opinion. Her success on multiple surfaces is a testament to that fact.

Dayana was starting to show more of a bet game as the season came to s close. She has the ability to hit winners from anywhere on the court and has a faultless serve motion. She just needs the right coach as I said before. She won titles on clay and hard and had her best Slam result on grass.

That's your opinion. Yastremska's uber-aggressive game is no more "one dimensional" than a young Sharapova and Sharapova had a pretty great career. Fact is when Yastremska's game is working, she can blow 99% of the tour off court. I'd say she's an A-grade Ostapenko. She's basically Ostapenko with a better serve and better natural athleticism and better attitude and her time will come.

EVen if Anisimova has greater potential (disputable), to use phrases like "much better" is ridiculous. You're comparing 2 of the best teenagers in the game and acting like it's a comparison of Navratilova and Flipkens.

Anisimova just has a prettier, smoother looking game. Substantively though, shot-for-shot, I honestly can't see how she's a better prospect than Yastremska. Anisimova's game isn't that well-rounded either. She's a classic baseliner without much variety.

That's pretty much what I told him, but he didn't really listen. Dayana has much more all-around potential than Jelena.

This could backfire and put too much pressure on AA. Vaidisova Kornikova all over again? AA is a princess and a beauty, now she HAS TO WIN MAJORS. I don't like this at all.

When does Nadal, Serena Nike contracts expire?
