Blinkova gave Osaka a little run in NY. When her backhand is on she's okay

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
HEALTH and HAPPINESS to EVERYONE

Re: Luxembourg R1: Blinkova d. Gauff 6-4 6-0

Gauff looked tired and had no energy throughout the match. I don't remember her hitting this many unforced errors before...

Blinkova was pretty solid. First set should have been more straightforward, but she gave away the first break with four straight unforced errors.

Gauff with empty tank. Let's not be hard on the kid! Blinkova becomes second player to beat Linz champion after Korpatsch also did it before Coco even won that event LOL @Absolute10

Blinkova is much more talented than her ranking (and frankly slow progress in the last couple of years) indicates. Lots of potential there.

Gauff obviously dead on her feet, especially in the second set. I question why she played singles here, given her tournament limit - her fatigue was quite predictable - but of course she's not being pushed too hard at all and her parents are just the bestest! Despite that weird OCC in the second set where she was in tears and her dad just told her she's better than this.

Perhaps she felt obliged to take part because she got in due to withdrawals and didn't want to let them down just because she won Linz?

She shouldn't be crying though after just winning her first title and being understandably exhausted.

Re: Luxembourg R1: Blinkova d. Gauff 6-4 6-0

didn't see the match, but if coco looked out of gas, she probably should have pulled out of the tournament.

as a 15 year old, she played qualifying and then a full main draw at linz, as well as doubles, winning the singles.

she should have soaked up the success of her title and enjoyed the moment. 1st titles only ever come around once.
also media, as well as travelling to lux, as well as the effort she put in would have tested her both mentally and physically.

i'm sure the luxembourg organisers, although disappointed, would have understood her for withdrawing.

I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT TOURNAMENT WINNERS NEVER GET THE CHANCE TO ENJOY THEIR SUCCESS, because they normally have to play another event in a different country within a couple of days.

still 2019 has been a great year for her.

People forget that she's 15. Mentally not mature enough to handle instant success (it will come) and her body is still developing as an athlete (stamina especially). Once I heard her dad's first chat, it was almost geared towards an expected loss

Wozniacki YNWA * Naomi Osaka * Zhang Shuai * Hsieh Su-wei * Chan/Hlavackova *

They're being reminded of it 24/7, so I kinda doubt that.

Re: Luxembourg R1: Blinkova d. Gauff 6-4 6-0

Blinkova is talented player with a lot of potential.

For Gauff this loss should be forgotten as irrelevant, she played way too much last week...
For her the biggest risk on long run might be greedy overambitious amateurish parents and managers. She is way too young still.

You are right I think she didn’t want to let her doubles partner down so stayed in tournament.... I think after a tough tournament like she had in Linz that should have been thee last but it’s tough when you plan and people depend but hopefully the team learns from it and make different choices .... the thing I noticed she never went to her towel once the whole match
