BOMBSHELL: WTA Still Trying To Find Home For SET 750 In 2020

of course WTA does not mention it at all in its press release, but there is a big TBD on the 2020 calendar as it needs to find a new home for the SET 750

I hope it stays in China / Asia

I didnít realise this was the last year in Zhuhai? Iím pretty sure it will remain in China. Do we know which cities are in the running?

It will either stay in China or be scratched.

Re: BOMBSHELL: WTA Still Trying To Find Home For SET 750 In 2020

i think it should go back to MM winners and be played in europe somewhere.

asia already has the W.T.A. finals, so i think it's fair to share this smaller event in the northern hemisphere. ( it's likely that most participants will be from europe or the states.)

i'm also happy to keep it as the next 12 players, but no WILDCARDS, if they don't want to change it.

The secondary YEC is a stupid tournament anyway (ATP don't have it) and even more so when you call it Elite Trophy so it does sound like a big thing whilst actual elite players of particular year are competing in WTA Finals.

Re: BOMBSHELL: WTA Still Trying To Find Home For SET 750 In 2020

The WTA had a great idea with the Rising Stars exhibition but the execution was mediocre.

The ATP stole the idea and made it much better with a year-long campaign, impeccable marketing and a successful tournament in Milan. I wonder if there's a city that would be willing to host the WTA's U21 or something.

The WTA lost its opportunity this year. The field would have been an absolute blockbuster:
1) Kenin
2) Vondrousova (injured)
3) Anisimova
4) Yastremska
5) Rybakina
6) Swiatek
7) Gauff
8) Potapova
9) Kalinskaya, Gracheva or McNally as alternates

Put it in Europe, as the capstone to the Luxembourg-Linz-Moscow events, remove the wildcard entry, and give the winner the last spot in Shenzhen.

Give it some actual stakes.

It should be scrapped so that we can have more have-been stars concept. With all these players rising like the phoenix from retirements, while younger players are winning slams unlike the ATP.

Re: BOMBSHELL: WTA Still Trying To Find Home For SET 750 In 2020

No more tournaments in China please.
They won't cancel it though. WTA needs a tournament for these #11-20 players or it is gonna be a huge gap between top 10 and the rest.

Re: BOMBSHELL: WTA Still Trying To Find Home For SET 750 In 2020

I dont know what the WTA is planning. All these ideas like YEC-B, or next gen or womans Laver Cup are only good ideas if there is someone willing to pay for the whole thing
A next gen with local WCs might work in China

Move it to the North Pole, there will be more people on stands than in China.

There was a laughing icon with respect to Canada in the poll, but Edmonton Alberta does have a state of the art new stadium in the Rogers Place...

Edmonton at the end of October weather wise isnít as good at Rogers Cup in April, but is probably as good as many places in Europe...

Canada right now only has one tournament in the whole nation and itís the second largest country on Earth...
