Re: Tianjin F: Peterson d. Watson 6-4 6-4
A shame for Watson, had the early break in both sets, a number of game points where she failed to hold, and often had 0-30 on the Peterson serve, but just not quite good enough in the end. 28 next year, and on the tour a long time, I think at this stage it should be all about ensuring she is constantly top 100, and qualifies for all the slams directly, and then the odd run like this here and there, and try and do well on the grass. She lost to Bolkvadze and Grammatikopolou in the 2 most recent slams she had to qualify for, so the surprise 180 points here means she will now avoid that situation in Melbourne.
Well done to Peterson. Been a very profitable Asian swing with 2 international titles, and therefore not surprisingly up to a career high.
