I guess I was too confident Dashka could beat a slumping Garcia. I dont even know what to think at this stage. Maybe take a sabatical?

I think this is the worst match of the year. At least from those that I watched.

Re: Wuhan R1: Caroline Garcia d. Daria Kasatkina 6-2 6-2

Kasatkina managed to hit 4 straight DFs to lose a game from 30-0 up Errani could never
I know she still has her Moscow points but it's amusing how Kasatkina manages to stay in the Top 50.

The match was in fact closer than what the scoreline is suggesting, even though it's always on Caro's racquet. A win is a win, I guess

Dasha is a mess but to be fair to her, aside from starting poorly in the first few games, Garcia seemed to get used to the pace and conditions really well. Not exactly vintage 2017 Smog Queen of China Caro, but the last 3/4ths of the match was her best tennis i've seen since Nottingham, if not Strasbourg. Was finally hitting her damn DTL again.

Daria should have played in Tashkent for better chances of winning a match.

So there's still hope for Caro?

Who cares of hypertrophic weapons when the player on the court moves like music?

I now it was a bad match for Dashka but , she's on the right path. She was out of form most of the year and you can see she put the hard work on her fitness, she needed this basis to build on.She also tried to be more agressive and take more the control of the point that's positive too.

She' starting from 0 so that will need time and work.Key for her will be to improve that 2nd serve, you can't compete with that 2nd serve as serving that badly has an impact in her whole game .

I think I said it just after the french open that this year looks like a sabatical already. She scheduled like a top player despite she was losing in the 1st round. She played 27 matches(9W-18L ) in 9 month that's 3 matches by month without injuries .

Re: Wuhan R1: Caroline Garcia d. Daria Kasatkina 6-2 6-2

Really dumb of Kasatkina not to drop down to International level even once this year. It's been obvious she's slumping since the very start and she's in dire need of a few wins over literally anyone in Palermo, Nanchang, Tashkent, wherever. This kind of result will only make it worse.

Garcia by contrast has also been in a pretty bad slump but dropping down in Strasbourg and Nottingham has just about saved her season.
