In Her 3rd Career, Will CLIJSTERS Finally Set Foot In China (Or Even Asia)?

FACT: Kim CLIJSTERS Has Never Played Tournament in China (she committed at least once to Beijing and was even used in the promotional materials)

FACT #2: Kim CLIJSTERS Has Not Played in Asia since 2002 (and the only times she has are Tokyo P470 in 2001, 2002)

she has missed Tokyo P470 since 2003 and Beijing P470 / PM 1000 ever since its inception in 2004 (PM 1000 since 2009)

Tokyo and Beijing have been held in the fall time frame since 2003, so let's take a look at the circumstances for Clijsters:

2003: played European swing in the fall (Leipzig, Filderstadt, Zurich, Luxembourg)
2004: injured, only played Hasslet MM in the fall
2005: played European swing in the fall (Luxembourg, Filderstadt, Hasselt)
2006: injured, came back in Hasslet MM before Madrid YEC 1500
2007: retired in May
2008: retired (missed Olympics in Beijing)
2009: only played Luxembourg MM in the fall (was offered a WC for Istanbul YEC 2000 but did not accept)
2010: did not play anything between winning USO GS 2000 and Doha YEC 1500 (she withdrew from Beijing PM 1000 citing injury)
2011: injured ending season in Toronto
2012: retired after US Open

it is a shame and this fact has been noted by her Asian fans on social media ... we hope that she will take the flight and show up in 2020, especially for the Tokyo Olympics, Beijing PM 1000, Zhuhai SET 750 and Shenzhen YEC 1500 if she qualifies for any of those events

No, The tour builds on the players who play in autumn. This is the time of year the WTA makes most of their revenue
But its oklay, the WTA doesnt need Kim or Serena in Shenzhen. They have stars and they are trying to help the development of good players from China
So its all good. Everyone is making money, unless they cant get into the top 150

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
HEALTH and HAPPINESS to EVERYONE

that is disgusting that she even joked about it, effectively saying that because the tour has moved to Asia, she would start her offseason in September

I hope she keeps boycotting China. More player should do it.

Clijsters doesn’t need to play in Asia, she already beat Li in a grand slam final and she prefers to play with a crowd!

I don’t think she will bother, unless she qualifies for the Olympics

does the WTA pay you to promote China on a tennisforum that represent them?

If not, they should

I'm sorry, but why would any player want to play in a country as corrupt and human rights destroying as china? I honestly understand anyone that avoids countries like that. I've been to hong kong, i've seen the people there suffer over and over because they want freedom. I perfectly understand Kim if she wants to stay home with her kids instead.

I can see her play in the Olympics if she makes it but she'll stay home during the Asian swing in autumn.

Champagne Kim will more likely play her usual US hard court swings in Indian Wells, Miami, and the U.S. summer hard court events to test the water. It will be very exciting
