Great day for Watson - allowed into US Open quallies, and then wins her biggest title for 3 and a half years. She was 1-5 down in that first set, before storming back with a hidden bagel.

She reached the final here last year, qualified for the US Open, and then reached WTA Quebec SF, so she had/has a lot of points to defend in this period, but she refuses to leave the periphery of the top 100.

Well done Heather :)

Important result for Heather, gets her back near the top 100 in the race but really needs to back this up with some results this fall. I think she would benefit from playing the US ITF circuit over the fall to get some matches and points and build her confidence going into 2020.

wait wait… so Sara Sorribes is not injured?? I thought the reason for MJMS and SST to stop playing doubles together was an injury from Sara´s side... but no, she is playing!

why are they not playing together anymore? If they decided to split why couldn't MJMS find a better partner than Jurak???

She has been injured though, since Wimbledon. She came back at a 25 K 2 weeks ago and then Vancouver last week.
No idea if they actually have splitted but they don’t play together in US Open.

MJMS may play with Arruabarrena also if she looks to qualify for OG, who is a very competetent doubles player.
But she also has missed many weeks due to injury (last 2 Slams included) and has fallen out of top 150 in singles.

She also won a 60k in May and guess what happened afterwards. If she relax after one tournament she need more discipline. Hope she can keep this form up some how.
She knows she's not going to be one of the best but should fight for her career to be around top 50

She’s played mostly tour level all year and has done very little - in the past year she’s had little success against anyone top 100 level so she should be playing more ITF events and get some more points under her belt. I don’t think it’s a question of discipline, her level just hasn’t been there.
