That is very sad news. Just turned 64 as well. I think I recall the split was due to his health, so might have been suffering for a while.

Re: Qiang Wang’s Former Long Time Coach Pete McNamara Has Died

RIP. He really has been a generally unheralded coach round these parts, but as you can tell from the players he worked with and the success he had with them, Pete was great at his job and at extracting new "peaks" out of his charges. I mean, even Ebden has shown flashes of progress under his tutelage.

Very sad news.
I didn't understand the split with Q Wang, as they were a very successful team.
I always enjoyed their OCC, because of his Aussie accent, and ending each sentence with "eh".
He always seemed to be in good health.

Re: Qiang Wang’s Former Long Time Coach Pete McNamara Has Died

He looked like a great guy. I'm sure he helped Wang Qiang to improve her first serve.

In the 80s he was pairing with Paul McNamee in doubles, they were a formidable team of serve and volleyers. You can't forget that sound: McNamara/McNamee.

So he knew he was ill and we didn't.

I hope he was happy and enjoyed his life in the world of tennis.
