Honestly this is probably the best for her. She only really starts to pick up her game once she has to play qualifying again...and I'm not saying she's like slay worthy top 5 slam winner material anymore I'm just saying she actually is good enough to be a top 50 player but unfortunately for her it's a mixture of motivation + not working that hard + not having the confidence anymore to win and close out matches.
I mean, we've seen this time and again from her for a while now. She plays terribly, then she doesn't get to play at the tournaments she wants to, starts to slowly improve, then gets back to playing the tournaments she wants to, then goes back to playing terribly. It's the same cycle over and over again.
I thought she had already been out of top 100 before. It's kinda sad though. I near her 'hack the ball' game had limitations and she has certainly technical faults but it's amazing how she was top 5 and is wandering the bottom rung of top 100, or now outside of it.
She was out of the top 100 early last year. And she had a minor resurgence at the end of last season and got back inside the top 90, and the media was hyping her back again after almost beating Goerges in Auckland in January. And she's proceeded to do nothing since and has slipped back out of the top 100 again. It's a repeating cycle. And it seems, at least with the same deadpan answers in interviews, that she has no conviction or motivation to get better. Her game is severely limited, but she won't change it or work on improving. There's losing and then there's failing. And it's looking like the latter with Genie more and more.
Genie was playing very well from Luxembourg to AO, top50 level at least. After that I don't know what happened. Probably she lost motivation to tennis again.
She got injured after that. Genie is still not playing too bad. She should be winning a lot more matches but it is nerves that are coming in the way of closing out the match. Yesterday she was 6-2, 4-2 up...
She had match point against Zidansek too. This is after everyone was saying that Zidansek has had solid results and Genie will get a double bagel.
I'm waiting on pins and needles for a photo spread of Eugene climbing the Matterhorn in a bikini!!!

Eugene is in Switzerland -- the Matterhorn is in Switzerland -- and she always has a bikini
All that is needed is Jimmy48 and a camera.
Relevant? More than relevant. There are top 20 players who are barely mentioned and Genie has 10 threads about her all the time. People here like to pretend that "Oh I thought Genie already retired" yet continue to post in every thread about Genie. Goes on to show how much they hate her but the intensity of her name is enough that they can't ignore her.
