2019 Panamerican Games: Who will hit the jackpot and get the 2 MDWC for Tokyo 2020?

Starting on July 26 in Lima (Perú) on clay, both singles finalists will get a free pass to Tokyo Olympics (unless the 4 spots for their country are already taken, which is almost certain the case of the US)

Entry list

Marino CAN
Cepede Royg PAR
Podoroska ARG
Dolehilde EEUU
Zarazua MEX
Seguel CHI
Arconada EEUU
Alves BRA
Bosio ARG
Osorio COL
Gamiz VEN
Herazo Gonzalez COL
Gonzalez PAR
Pella ARG
Brito CHI
Zacarias MEX
Schaefer PER
Graham EEUU
Arango COL
Roemer ECU
Sleeth CAN
Januskova CAN
Weedon GUA
Morales GUA
Guzman PER
Iamachkine PER
Zeballos BOL
James GRE
Reasco ECU

And to think there will be many top 100 players who will not qualify

Watch 15K vulture Brito living her dream in Tokyo...

But I, being poor, have only my dreams
I have spread my dreams under your feet
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams

It would be such a great story if Marino could win this and go to the Olympics

You would think they would at least try and play on the same type of surface as what’s expected in Tokyo...

Marino is not a claycourter but I’ll keep my fingers crossed she finds a way to get a spot here.

"Religion has actually convinced people that there is an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. Any if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But he loves you."

Hopefully Osorio. I think she's now the highest ranked Colombian player after MDM's retirement.
Wardh's Vice and GenieSlam24 like this.

Kerber - Osaka - Sharapova - Azarenka - Osorio - Arango - Kenin - Vekic - Anisimova

Why would she want to fly all the way to Peru to lose another 1st round match?

Weird it is nit played on the same surface than Tokyo. Really hurts Marino's chances.

So if someone from the US makes it to the final, do they give the second spot to the bronze medalist or just don't keep a spot open?

placed athlete in the respective tournament (e.g. Asian Games Silver Medallist) who must have a
minimum ranking of 300 in the Singles Rankings of 8 June 2020. Should the next athlete be equalplaced with another (e.g. two losing semi-finalists), reallocation will go to the athlete ranked highest
on the Singles Rankings of 8 June 2020. If there are no athletes with a minimum ranking of 300,
the place will be reallocated to the next highest ranked athlete on the Singles Rankings of 8 June
2020 notwithstanding the continent from which such athlete comes, respecting the maximum
number of quota places per NOC.
