Will Serena ever get that 24th slam?

I am a huge serena fan but the way she is playing the final has been horrible. She is clearly thinking of the record. Tbh i think she has the record not court’s inflated slam where she played with her friends.

She doesn’t have the record and it’s a record and a big deal since everyone was so sure she was going to win and made a big deal out of it lol

Will she win 24? No.

Yes, with the right draw yes, she definitely will. She keeps creating opportunities for herself and eventually she will at the very least get that 24th, and you can quote me on this.

Yes, 24 at USO, 25 at AO right in that old hag's bigot face

More important than sticking it to Court is winning after having a child, that's more important imo. Soon as she gets 25 she can have another baby and ride off into sunset

Was court’s even mentioned before? No. It only started getting mentioned when serena was reaching graf. She won half her slams before the open era. Non australians in the draw in her wins

I think she will. Also think she will get to 25. Been watching this girl since 1997. She will fight to get over this mental hurdle. I really hope she does it 🙏🏿❤️🙏&#x1f3f f;

Didn't play a top 10 player until the final, pigeons en route, this was the right draw. Movement exposed again by an in form player for third Slam final in a row, can't see it getting better as she gets older. Unless she miraculously becomes fitter I can't see another way, this was a golden chance.

Re: Will Serena ever get that 24th slam?

Well I think now it's not only the record getting in her head but more that she now has this bloc in finals since her baby. Still though I think the only real choke was the US Open. Last year she simply was not fit enough to beat Kerber and today Halep played amazingly so she was a dear in the highlights and panicked a bit, but was also soundly outplayed. The US Open she was outplayed but totally self-destructed too. If she had started well today I think she would have won. But if she can get to more finals she will definitely get an opponent sooner or later who doesn't come out all guns blazing and if she can get her foot in the door she won't have a nervous meltdown.

My number one: Victoria Azarenka

ATP: Novak Djoković

Crazy Frenchies: Gilles Simon Alizé Cornet

Re: Will Serena ever get that 24th slam?

I don't know. She needs to fully commit and play a fairly full schedule (I know she was injured this year). She needs to get used to playing top players again. She needs to see a sports psychologist because there is something in common with all these final performances. Her level improves and improves getting towards the business end of the tournament and then comes out in the final and plays like a steaming pile of garbage.

I think every slam finalist is now praying to get Serena in a final because her nerves basically present you with the trophy. All you need to do is play as well as you've been playing in the tournament and you've won. It really is that simple

Serena / Venus / Kvitova / Sharapova / Stephens

Azarenka / Muguruza / Osaka

As long as she doesn't bully another umpire, I'm praying that she will. She deserves it.

She reached another final without absolut no previous match, who knows really, WTA is disastrous at the moment.

Re: Will Serena ever get that 24th slam?

She needs to see a sports physiologist. Any objective person, whether you hate or love Serena can't tell me there has to be something up there mentally where you play completely sublime in the first 6 rounds and then utter crap in the final. Simona, nor Angie, nor Naomi are scrubs, but the Serena that got to the final could have took at least the USO and Wimbledon 19 to 3 sets had she showed the level that got her to the final.

WImbledon 2018 she never really played well to me.

Not sure how much I agree with the last part. Kerber basically did what she had been doing and was less impressive than in their Australian Open final (and possibly even the previous Wimbledon one), but Osaka and especially Halep played the matches of their lives. Williams aided them with errors but because she was shellshocked by their peaking.
