This is great for Naomi, Kiki, and Al Nabhani (who should really be contesting club matches against Alexandra Stevenson), so everybody wins!

"Sometimes we've wondered if Martina actually knew what she was saying. Maybe it was her age or inexperience or something got lost in the translation. But I don't know. She comes out with something astounding and then just stares at you like, 'What did I say?' But then she'll have that glint in her eye."

Margaret will be on her ancient bony knees tomorrow, praying for dear life.

Would be nice to have her on a small screen next to the match, as a sort of PewDiePie.

Re: Penny for Margeret Court's thoughts

Mrs Court (Margaret not Margeret) will be perfectly relaxed about the number of major tennis titles held by anybody in the game past or present. She always has been. They are what they are.Others' views may be different.

For the absence of doubt Mrs Court holds more Grand Slams than any other player. She has 3-one in singles and 2 in mixed doubles.

Everyone should respect Court, as per Mouratouglou logic. She won so many slams.

She might like that Serena is a woman of faith herself. We usually get a thank you to Jehovah.

Fan of...
Petra Kvitova

Steffi Graf Justine Henin
Elena Dementieva Angelique Kerber Jelena Ostapenko
Simona Halep
Monica Niculescu Kiki Bertens Barbora Strycova Hsieh Su-Wei

Re: Penny for Margeret Court's thoughts

Sure, Margaret has a bit of a screw loose. All the great, super-dominant champions (Serena, Court, Graf, Evert, Navratilova, Seles*) have been wired differently from the rest of the pack.

Margaret could have kept her mouth shut about the gay issue and its relation to religion. And I think she should have done so—not to take away her right to free expression, but rather to focus upon helping the poor and hungry, which her ministry has been doing for years and years.

Using that Bible as a scientific “textbook” does not give Margaret the platform to make sweeping statements about complex human issues that her Holy Book is utterly unable to address, in all common sense.

She got on that song-and-dance, however, and has been deservedly criticized and also over-criticized, too, on that specific issue.

She ought to have left it alone, no matter what her personal interpretations, and focused on the Gospel of Christ, which centers upon love as an answer to confusion and hatred. (People forget that Christ, apparently, never condemned homosexual people, and that several letters written by the zealot, Paul, were “shoved into” the loose canon of the New Testament long after the fact. Paul never met Christ or knew him. Zilch.)

At any rate, Margaret is a very good-hearted woman, if also a misguided woman on the not-so-simple issue of our gay citizens and friends and selves, etc.

She doesn’t want to see her record equaled or surpassed, but I think she will handle it with greater class than most other champions, ironically.

Spelling Nazi's usually have inferiority complexes and social issues so maybe I shouldn't be so harsh, but is there anyone else on this forum who's life is so empty they feel the need to draw attention to a slight spelling error in someone's name ffs, dear me.
