Why is it so hard for a player to win 2 slams in a row these days?

Other than Naomi Osaka, no player has done so since like 2015? So it seems like it's a very hard thing to do these days. What do you think is the reason?

Re: Why is it so hard for a player to win 2 slams in a row these days?

Winning one slam is already a very tough task, not even talking about two in a row.

Also, there's no dominant player on tour currently. We have a bunch of maybe 15-20 players and all of them could win a GS in theory.

Even though surfaces aren't as diverse as they used to be, it's still hard winning on 2 different surfaces. The only option winning two in a row on the same surface is like Osaka did it, USO and then AO.

Of these quarter finalists even winning 1 tournament this season has been beyond them.

Only exception is Riske.

Is this a serious question? you only have 28 players who have won more than one major. Of those players only 14 have managed to win back to back and 10 maybe 11 of them are legends........Its not happening because it doesnt happen often.

Osaka
Capriati
Kim
Hingis
Venus (2x)
Justin
Goolagong
King (3x)
Seles (4X)
Court (7x)
Nav (7X)
Evert(2X) This is really surprising considering how many majors she won. she rarely won back to back.
Graf (12X)
Serena (7X)

Venus Ebone Starr

Serena Williams

Madison Keys

Hantuchova

Because there’s literally no difference between the best and the pretenders nowadays. In the past the gap was significant. They elevated the game to the level no other players could reach. Not to mention winning back then was how you got money. Nowadays looking pretty and smiling is enough.

Winning 2 majors in a row shows a sign of domination which doesn't happen very often.
Well, except for Osaka who was just consistent enough when the rest of the tour were mugs who hardly keep winning more than 5 matches streak.

And to have Serena reaching 2 straight finals at majors last year when she wasn't even fit just prove how weak these girls are.

Who cares of hypertrophic weapons when the player on the court moves like music?

9 different women won the last 10 majors, and the final 8 is loaded with slamless players and Serena, Halep
I think they arent that good compared to the field and you need a lot to go right to win 2 in a row

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
