Osaka is clearly a hard court specialist at this point. She has really done nothing on clay or grass. I suspect she'll be back in top form for the North American hard court season.

You may be right, but to me Naomi is little girl lost right now. Baijin must secretly be enjoying every moment of this drama. A smart move for both would be to patch things up and go back to her winning ways.

This is the WTA though, so the more likely scenario is for her flameout to continue followed by a "comeback" in 2021 or so.

The door is open for Barty. An even bigger chance for Pliskova if she will step up and seize it.

Always funny how quickly things change at TF. From "at least (!) 10 GS" to "she'll never win one again"

I mean her game is pretty shitty, she can use that big forehand a couple of times per match before she runs out of steam. Her legs are nothing to write home about and she's almost 22 and players her type pretty much peak around this time. So she ain't getting better.

It's already amazing she capitalized on those weak draws with a few top player injured (can you image playing Serena in a final lol...) so at least she has 2 titles so there's that. But her game was and still is shitty that's pretty clear to anyone. I think Keys is going to have a better carrer when all is said and done, they are somewhat similar just that Osaka was way more luckier

Yeah, beating Serena and Kvitova in finals is a cakewalk

Writing her off is ludicrous. She played some awesome tennis yesterday, mixed unfortunately with some horror tennis. And anyone watching could see it was all in her head. She went from imperious in the first few games to all at sea. She needs a really good coach, and a really good sports psychologist - not some quack. And it will take her time on grass - my all time fave Seles was equally useless on grass, and that was all in her head too. I for one hope she gets her act together. If she does I still think she has what it takes to dominate for a couple of years.
