Roland-Garros R3: Keys d. Blinkova 6-3 6-7 6-4

Keys was better in this match than the previous one, for the most part. Missed a match point at 6-5, 40-30 in the second set. But who knows, staying a bit more on the court could be useful for Madison. Her performance in the first and third set was remarkable. Had a few lapses in the second set, but stayed solid on serve, even once holding from 0-40 down. She fired up in that second set to break Blinkova at 5-5, and should have closed in 2 but... was a bit too cautious on mp.

Blinkova was the brave fighter we know, coming back from 0-3 to 4-4 in the third set, even had 2 break points for a 5-4 lead but Madison, once again, fixed it. Finally Keys broke Blinkova to take it.

Go Madison!

For a second there when she was facing those BPs it looked like the tournament could turn into an even bigger mess

Re: Roland-Garros R3: Keys d. Blinkova 6-3 6-7 6-4

Blinkova was serving 0-30 45 and dropped her racket to lose that point
Keys gets some great slam draws. Once made a Wimbledon QF without playing anyone in the top 70
Blinkova showed a lot of game at times, but has a long way to go mentally

Keys joke draws at slams continue to be the funniest and most annoying thing in tennis

Re: Roland-Garros R3: Keys d. Blinkova 6-3 6-7 6-4

Blinkova's racquet flying out of her hand on the serve to bring up MP for Keys.. Almost as funny as Keys winning on a drop shot.

Madislam Keys back into another second week, but she needs to play MUCH better and more disciplined to continue on here. I'll cut her some slack though considering she's barely played matches this year outside of her Charleston run. If only she could actually bring that level consistently...

Re: Roland-Garros R3: Keys d. Blinkova 6-3 6-7 6-4

Well done Madison!!!!! I was losing my shit when she got down two break points at 4-all, but she upped her level at the perfect moment.

As I said in the Osaka thread, it is incredible how often Madison's draws at slams have been opening up these past few years, but, other than losing to Rodina at Wimbledon, she has done a really nice job of taking advantage. Please keep winning .

Her level is clearly not its best, but the shitfests in the early rounds of Charleston before going on to win the title, plus the way she got it together from 4-all, 15-40 in the third to winning eight of the next nine points, show that she is capable of raising her game when she needs to.

Keys has unbelievable luck, she gets better draws in every slam than most top5 players. How is it possible?

So annoying. We will see another short QF or SF where she baseballs 4 games.

Thank goodness Keys won, there’s enough random names going into the quarter-finals as it is. Hope she can take out Siniakova too to clean up this section of the draw.

Sickening narrative about the easy draws. Blinkova can play. She beat Gasparyan and Garcia after all.

Jokes of posters not watching matches and grossly rating players by their rank, what's new on TF circus?

Who cares of hypertrophic weapons when the player on the court moves like music?

Mess. Glad she pulled through, anyway.

When has that happened?

"Sometimes we've wondered if Martina actually knew what she was saying. Maybe it was her age or inexperience or something got lost in the translation. But I don't know. She comes out with something astounding and then just stares at you like, 'What did I say?' But then she'll have that glint in her eye."
