Re: Strassbourg SF: [6] Dayana Yastremska d. [2] Aryna Sabalenka 6-4 6-4

Dayana was just in beast mode. I actually think she plays even better as a counterpuncher - when she has more time to think and set up her shot she tends to be more error-prone, but when in form like today she's one of the better 'reflexive' players. Returning any ball you give her with an extra dollop of pace, and huge unexpected angles.

Not much more Sabalenka could have done except tone down the DFs that have plagued her matches the past few weeks. Although to be fair, today she has an excuse, it felt like Yastremska was hitting ROS winners off anything that wasn't an ace.

score doesn't realize the level of demolition. tough days for Sabalenka, she must be pissed to see these teens outplaying her so badly. And in Paris a potential rematch with Amanda

Sabalenka actually played well by her recent standards, this exposure reminds me of her AO match with Anisimova

When Dayana plays like this it’s so great to see but her game is still so unsustainable. She’s worked on going for bigger targets and she was really creating space for herself with the angles but she is still wildly swinging at everything when she is even mildly out of position. I hope she finds a good balance because she has so much talent and if she uses it properly she could be Top 10 before we know it.

Scoreline is actually flattering to Sabalenka. She was literally beaten like a drum at her own game by a younger and more talented girl.

Hoping for a DREAM final Dayana vs Caroline now.

Bad news for Caro Garcia.
She could have chance against Sabalenka, but Dayana is exactly the kind of player she can't answer.
Expected result 2&2 and Caro crying.

In love 😍😍😍😍 Yasssss-tremska (aka Clay- Tremska) was taking no prisoners. Sabalenka was crying...no joke. So many winners Dayana hit from Sabalenka's dismal serving (mostly bad all match). Really like her game. Almost vintage, fearless Sharapova-esque.

There was ZERO counterpunching in Yastremska's game.

There shouldn't be any tournament the week before a slam. No one is playing. Too many WTA points for bunch for scrubs.

Re: Strassbourg SF: [6] Dayana Yastremska d. [2] Aryna Sabalenka 6-4 6-4

It's a bit ironic, after winning Thailand, Yastremska looked absolutely destined to be a seed at RG, but barely won another point since (literally one win). Now, if she wins the final tomorrow, she would jump above Buz in the rankings into 32nd place, but too late to be a seed and she ended up drawing a seed who she lost to last week.
