Then look at Britain's biggest success, Andy Murray, not from a rich background, not part of the LTA system, from the Sanchez-Casal academy.
Hopefully that will change soon with the grass root projects. The story of the Murrays is really amazing..there were like no facilities in Scotland.. Judy Murray is an amazing woman.

Yes, I miss him too

Jelzin has done A LOT for women tennis. Always supported it

No doubt you miss the perma-drunk who was letting a bunch of chronies selling the country left and right, while the majority of population was barely surviving. All because he loved tennis

Margarita Gasparyan has a beautiful game and should be a top 20 player, but she can't seem to play for more than a few months without getting injured. She's the new Lina Krasnoroutskaya.

Isn't the top ranked Russian Kasatkina almost out of Top 40 now?

That's the girl that said every kid in Russia uses Meldonium. I wonder if she was one of the kids.
Hope not.

Interesting.

It's sort of funny that the current best 'Russian' players are the Americans Anisimova & Kenin, Alexandrova, who's based in the Czech Republic for over a decade, and the half-Russian/half-Czech Katka Siniakova

not really... it's just that after Kournikova and Sharapova, the US is no longer willing to tolerate Russians who immigrate into the country, leech off our infrastructure, take US citizenship, yet still play under the Russian flag. Kenin and Ansimova didn't really have a choice, if they tried to play for Russia, they would have serious problems.

Russian men’s tennis was never that big. They have like 1-2 players at the top almost everytime.

Well anisimova was born in the US and kenin moved to the us when she was a toddler. Sharapova and kournikova moved to the us when they were older. I doubt they couldnt choose who to represent. Many nations train in the US for tennis.

I totally disagree!! Russians are doing great they are just Americans!! Do you realize Sharapova would be American today if she was starting out
