Re: The Annual Horrible French Roland Garros WCs Thread!
I'd go with Ponchet, Paquet and Tan and I don't think too many would disagree with those (as in there's definitely going to be 6 French WCs), Albie does look a lock based on results and the criteria they are using this year, so I'd be shocked if she wasn't included. It then gets trickier after that - Dodin has been mentioned by a few people on both threads and if she is fit enough then I think she should be included.
You'd have thought Burel would have been a lock in January and she obviously played the Aussie Open, but she's been injured and only played 1 match since the Australian summer, losing in qualifying.
I guess the French Feds have the same decision those at Wimbledon do with the similarly aged and ranked Raducanu regarding Parry and if it is a year too soon for her. She reached a 25k QF the other week, but then lost 1-6 2-6 in German W60 qualifying the other day. I'd be more inclined to wait a year and give her a QWC this year, but if they do offer her one, then some 'free money' as some say and a free hit at 70 points, plus good experience for someone who will surely be a focal part for the French at RG in the years to come, then it certainly wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
Hesse has lost 7 matches in a row and is sliding down the rankings, but Georges is still hovering around the 230 mark and has nothing to defend for a couple of months, so they may just play it safe(r) and award it to her.
